Four tries by Glasgow Warriors secured them a vital bonus-point win against the Stormers. Whilst the opening thirty minutes of Round 6 was scoreless, the Warriors came out at halftime ferocious.

Tries from captain and player of the match Sione Tuipulotu, Kyle Rowe, Johnny Matthews, and Henco Venter proved quite the display for supporters.

Gregor Brown commented on the growth and determination of his team.

‘We’re really pleased. That was our goal on this tour – to get a win. We’ve not won out here, apart from the final.

‘It’s a sign how this team’s growing.

‘The heat and all the other external factors, we pushed to one side. It doesn’t really matter for us, we just kept pushing to get the win there.’

Although Glasgow Warriors captain Kyle Steyn is currently out of action due to injury, Gregor mentioned that his team are not short of leaders.

‘We’ve got a really good group of leaders in the squad: Sione, Darge, Hasto and more.

‘We had a plan going into this game, how we were going to deal with the heat.’

Round 6 took place at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch. Whilst it wasn’t the usual home ground of the Stormers, the crowd still proved electric.

‘The crowd, whether our supporters or not, just add energy to us now. It’s awesome playing in front of a crowd like that in a stadium like that as well.

‘We stuck to our process, and we knew if we stuck to it, we’d come out on the other side.’

Round 6 is the final URC fixture ahead of the autumn international fixtures. Gregor reflected on how the reigning champions have done so far in defending their title.

‘This is a really good finish to the first block for us. We’ve grown as a team.

‘That first game at Ulster wasn’t a great start but we’ve kept building, pushing and adapting. I think you saw that today.’

Included in Gregor Townsend’s Scotland squad for the Autumn Nations series, this will be Brown’s first home autumn fixtures wearing the thistle. He will be one of nineteen Glasgow Warriors players that have been selected to represent Scotland for the autumn internationals.

‘I’m excited to get back into camp. I loved the summer tour with Scotland. It’s great to keep working with the Scotland coaches; it’s going to be awesome.’
