Warrior Nation, I wanted to take the opportunity to share an update with you all at what is an exciting and important stage of the season for the club.

On the pitch, performances from our men’s team have been outstanding. Sitting top of the BKT United Rugby Championship and seeded second in the Investec Champions Cup is something we should all be so proud of, but it’s not by chance.

I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge how hard our playing group has worked and the world class environment created by our incredible backroom team, whose commitment to what they do is utterly inspirational everyday.

Stunning Investec Champions Cup results both home and away, a significant win against Munster courtesy of a matchday 23 including six academy players, and a very fitting send off for Duncy Weir in victory over Zebre Parma; in recent weeks, we have experienced some of the highest highs I can recall in club history.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering backing of our supporters. Your energy, home and away, continues to make such a visible difference to the team.

We are particularly excited for our next two home fixtures in the URC, as well as our round-of-16 match in the Investec Champions Cup. Should we progress from that tie, we would host a quarter-final at Scotstoun Stadium and the prospect of another major European occasion in front of our home crowd against the Bulls on Saturday 4 April is something we are all looking forward to.

Friday night also marked a significant moment for our women’s programme, as we hosted Edinburgh Rugby in our final home Celtic Challenge fixture of the season in front of 1,841 spectators at Scotstoun – a club record for a standalone women’s fixture.

The team have gone from strength to strength, securing more wins this season than in any previous campaign and recording a league-leading nine bonus points to remain in the playoff hunt right until the final weekend. I couldn’t be prouder of all of the hard work that has gone in on and off the pitch that has seen the programme continue to go to new levels, and I’m excited to see what comes next.

Away from the pitch, we remain in constant dialogue with Glasgow City Council and the Commonwealth Games organisers regarding our displacement from Scotstoun during the summer.

A URC quarter-final will be the final fixture we are able to stage at the stadium this season and we are having positive and constructive conversations with the league around potential alternatives should we be fortunate enough to host matches deeper into the knockout stages.

Work around the Scotstoun campus also continues to move forward. Demolition of the old clubhouse in the north-east corner of the site will begin this month, with the long-term plan for that area to become a covered dwell space on matchdays.

In addition, as part of the wider Games development, the current pitch will be replaced during the off-season, ensuring the playing surface continues to meet the highest standards and supports the exciting brand of rugby with which we have become synonymous.

Looking ahead, planning for next season is well underway. The squad is taking shape, with several retention and recruitment discussions progressing positively. We will be in a position to begin announcing news in the coming weeks, and there is real excitement internally about the talented group we are building for the future.

On a personal note, the first few months of this season as Interim Managing Director has been such a privilege. We have a brilliant network of good people around our club which is what makes Glasgow Warriors the special club that it is.

Thank you, as always, for your continued passion and support. It is felt every time our teams take to the field, and it underpins everything we are striving to achieve as a club. I look forward to seeing many of you at Scotstoun in the weeks ahead.
