University of Strathclyde named Official Women’s Performance Partner

Glasgow Warriors and University of Strathclyde have further strengthened their long-term relationship, with the University becoming the club's Official Women's Performance Partner.

As well as Glasgow Warriors Women competing with the University logo on their playing shirts, the evolution of the partnerships also sees the recruitment of Ciera Campbell as Head Coach of the University Women’s Rugby team.

Campbell, who played for West of Scotland, has coached both Strathendrick and Bishopton Men’s 1st XVs in recent years and will also work as Glasgow Warriors’ Community Engagement Manager alongside her University coaching commitments.

Glasgow Warriors Women Head Coach Lindsey Smith will also provide coaching support for Campbell, with current University of Strathclyde women’s captain Aisha Zameer having been a part of the Glasgow Warriors women’s squad that competed in the 2024/25 Celtic Challenge.

“I’m excited to get started,” said Campbell. “We have some very talented players and an incredibly enthusiastic playing group, and it’s clear that they’re a group who are willing to learn and progress together as a team.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work closely with the squad, and indeed with the university, as we look to help give the players the best possible environment to develop.”

University of Strathclyde Director of Sport and Active Health Neil Brown said: “At Strathclyde Sport, we are committed to providing our student athletes with the very best opportunities to develop and compete at the highest levels.

“Becoming Glasgow Warriors’ official Women’s Performance Partner is a significant step in strengthening the women’s game and ensuring our players have access to top tier coaching and pathways to professional rugby.

“This partnership not only boosts our rugby programme but also reflects our shared ambition to grow and support female athletes in the sport. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of this collaboration.”

Glasgow Warriors Managing Director, Al Kellock, added: “This appointment is the latest step in our long-standing partnership with the University of Strathclyde, and serves to highlight the mutual benefits of the partnership for both parties.

“The support that Strathclyde offers to our players as they continue their studies is second to none and has been a real asset to our recruitment of young players since the partnership’s inception.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely together over the coming seasons.”
