Match Preview | Leinster (A) | URC Semi Final

5 Jun 2025

Glasgow Warriors continue their campaign as they head back to Dublin to face Leinster in the United Rugby Championship Semi Final.

The stage is set. Glasgow Warriors travel to Dublin with belief, firepower, and momentum, aiming to take down the top-seeded Leinster and book their place in the URC Grand Final.

Glasgow ended a tough run of form with a statement performance in the Quarter Final, with a 36-18 win over Stormers.  The side showed they were back to their expected form playing with pace, physicality and precision as they booked their place in the Semi Finals.

The two sides have met twice this season already with Leinster coming out on top both times.   However, the Glasgow side looked particularly strong in the Quarter Final in comparison to Leinster who had to work hard against the Scarlets to secure their Semi Final spot.

Ones To Watch

George Horne

Having had a record breaking season, Horne brings a spark to the Glasgow side and is arguable one of the most dangerous runners in Europe.  His try scoring finesse sees him running key support lines, providing off loads and tackling hard to ensure Glasgow score.

Jamie Dobie

With Horne being on such form as of late, Dobie has been playing consistently as a winger.  The utility player, most comfortable as scrum-half, shows off his speed and skills on the wing.  With seven tries scored this season, he is a threat to a break in the Leinster defence with his ability to appear from anywhere on the field.

Rory Darge

Player of the Match in the Quarter Final, Rory Darge is a strong presence.  With two turnovers and a 100% tackle success rate, the flanker is a breakdown specialist.  His ability to disrupt and win those turnovers, he is a key figure in the Glasgow attack.  Not only that, but Darge can also be a threat on the break with his speed being underestimated for someone of his position.

Franco Smith’s side may once more be the underdogs going into the Semi Final, however, the current defending Champions undoubtable have grit, talent and history on their side. If they play with the same tempo, disciple and unleash their attacking prowess, Leinster will be in for a battle game.
