GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - MAY 22: Warriors' Brent Jackson scores a try during a match between Glasgow Warriors A and Black Lion at Scotstoun Stadium, on May 22, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Ross MacDonald / SNS Group) Glasgow Warriors academy player Matthew Urwin kicked off in the sun to start the game. The game was back and forth rugby until around the twentieth minute when Black Lion looked as if they were going to cross the line on a kick chase break, before Facundo Cordero made a try saving tackle and took the player into touch on the corner flag.
The game remained end to end with both teams failing to cross the whitewash after a physical first 40 minutes.
The second half looked almost to continue the same way until Black Lion crossed the corner through Alexander Todua following a pass past the final Glasgow defender. The successful conversion gave the visitors a seven-point lead.
Glasgow Warriors were keen to strike back and crossed the line just three minutes later through Fergus Watson. After winning a penalty just five from the touch line. A pick and go saw the ball make its way out wide to Watson to dodge past the Black Lion defence to touch down. Matthew Urwin added the extras to bring Glasgow level.
Black Lion then scored twice more, through Todua and Shalva Mamukashvili and with successful conversions extended their lead to 21-7.
Just before the 70 minute Kerr Johnston touched down under the posts to bring Glasgow back into the game with just one converted try separating the sides.
A final minute rolling maul saw Black Lion touch down through Mamukashvili once more to secure the win at Scotstoun.
