The Glasgow Rugby Varsity has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated fixtures in the university sporting calendar, showcasing the fierce rivalry and shared camaraderie between the University of Glasgow and University of Strathclyde rugby teams.
Since its launch in 2016, the Varsity has grown significantly. A landmark moment came in 2023 with the introduction of a women’s match alongside the men’s game, attracting a record-breaking crowd of over 3,000 fans to Scotstoun Stadium. The 2025 edition continued this momentum, selling out once again and reinforcing Varsity’s reputation as a highlight of the year.
