The 27-year-old – who recently put pen to paper on a new contract with the club – took home the trophy at the club’s annual Awards Dinner, sponsored by The Malcolm Group, at the Hilton Glasgow, on a night where nine awards were handed out to the season’s standout performers.

No player has scored more points than Horne in a Glasgow jersey so far in the 2022/23 campaign, the scrum-half having assumed regular kicking duties for the club for the first time this season.

The Howe of Fife product, who has scored 109 points in his 16 appearances across the season so far, emerged victorious in a public vote from the Warrior Nation to pick up the prize.

Sebastian Cancelliere took home the Denholm Energy Services Players’ Player of the Season trophy, after a campaign that saw the Argentinian flyer cement his place as a fan favourite with the Warrior Nation.

His scintillating form across the campaign saw him lead the club for defenders beaten and clean breaks across the BKT URC regular season, as well as becoming the first Glasgow winger to score nine or more tries in a campaign since Tommy Seymour in 2018/19.

Tom Jordan was named as the Defender Breakthrough Player after a monumental debut season as a professional, the fly-half becoming the first Glasgow back to play feature in every match of the league campaign since Bernardo Stortoni in 2009/10.

The former Ayrshire Bull made his debut in the opening match of the season away to Benetton, crossing for a memorable try against Edinburgh in the 1872 Cup-securing victory at BT Murrayfield.

Club captain Kyle Steyn was recognised with The Malcolm Group Leadership Award, having led from the front in his first season in the role.

Named as skipper by Head Coach Franco Smith at the outset of the 2022/23 campaign, Steyn has been a consistently outstanding performer across the course of the season in leading his team to a first-ever European semi-final and the BKT URC playoffs.

Stafford McDowall was named as the recipient of The Famous Grouse Coaches Award, in a season that has seen him become a pivotal figure in the black and blue of Glasgow Warriors.

The centre was named as captain of the club for the first time in January’s win away to USA Perpignan, with the coaching team highlighting his dedication to driving the standards of his fellow Warriors both on and off the field.

Nathan McBeth took home the Mackenzie Construction Most Improved Player of the Season prize, the loose-head having been heavily involved across the campaign in both the BKT URC and Challenge Cup.

The former Scotland U20 prop has made 15 appearances to date in all competitions, including a first-ever start for the club in the away win in Perpignan.

A scintillating Guinness Six Nations campaign saw Huw Jones collect the Harper Macleod Test Player of the Season prize, after being named in the Team of the Tournament following a series of superb performances in the dark blue of Scotland.

The centre scored four tries for Gregor Townsend’s men across the course of the tournament, dove-tailing to devastating effect with club-mate Sione Tuipulotu in the midfield.

Two of the region’s standout figures in community rugby were recognised with the SP Energy Networks Community Hero Award, in memory of Jim Taylor MBE, as Caroline Campbell of Montrose and Steven McCooey of Strathendrick shared the award.

Both recipients have been instrumental in enhancing the rugby programmes of local schools and clubs, including in the 2023 SP Energy Networks Warriors Championship.

The 2022/23 Try of the Season, sponsored by the University of Strathclyde, was awarded to Huw Jones’ spectacular length of the field effort against the Dragons at Scotstoun, the centre’s score earning over a third of the vote from the Warrior Nation.
