Warriors pair amongst University of Strathclyde scholarship intake
Two Glasgow Warriors are amongst the 2020/21 intake of performance sport scholars at the University of Strathclyde, continuing the pioneering relationship between the university and the club.
Rufus McLean
and Jamie Dobie will see their studies supported through the scholarship
programme, which enables young athletes to flourish within their chosen sports
as well as on an academic level.
Each athlete
receives support including flexible academic study options, strength and
conditioning services at a world class facility, world-class sports science and
medical support, athlete lifestyle support workshops, and financial assistance
towards training and competition costs.
Now in it’s
29
th year, the 2020/21 intake also includes Scotland and University
of Strathclyde Sirens netballer Beth Goodwin and Commonwealth Games gold
medal-winning cyclist Mark Stewart.

“The
University of Strathclyde is just a great place to be studying right now”
McLean told glasgowwarriors.org.
“The
lecturers have given me so much support since I enrolled, and have been really
understanding to my situation when it comes to balancing studying and being a
professional rugby player.
“The Elite
Athlete liaison team has really helped me out in terms of finding that balance.
They’ve helped me to become a lot more independent and organised.
“I’m really
excited to continue my studies at Strathclyde.”
