Henco Venter

Back-row

South African back-rower Henco Venter joined Glasgow Warriors in the summer of 2023, making the switch north from URC rivals Hollywoodbets Sharks.

He made his competitive debut in the opening round of the 2023/24 BKT URC campaign, starting at number eight in a 43-25 win over Leinster at Scotstoun.

A product of the famous Grey College in his homeland, and comfortable across all three back-row positions, Venter made 48 appearances for the Durban-based outfit during his time with the Sharks.

He has also represented Toshiba Brave Lupus and Toyota Cheetahs during his career to date, the latter of which saw him play for current Glasgow Head Coach, Franco Smith.

Venter is also the nephew of 1995 Rugby World Cup winner Ruben Kruger, playing in the same position as the former Springbok flanker.

His first try in Glasgow colours came in memorable fashion, crashing over from close-range to give his side breathing space in a 27-10 win over the DHL Stormers in the 2023/24 BKT URC quarter-final at Scotstoun.

The back-rower capped his first season at Scotstoun with a league title, coming off the bench in the 2024 BKT URC Grand Final victory over the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria.
