Supporter Update | Al Kellock
Glasgow Warriors Managing Director Al Kellock gives an update on a busy few weeks for the club.
Dear Warrior Nation,
I hope you remain safe and well and are looking forward to the new season as much as we are.
We are delighted to have launched our Season Ticket and Warrior Nation Membership packages for 2021/22 – returning to a traditional Membership package for the first time since the 2019/20 season – and it has been great to see so many renewals as we head back to filling Scotstoun once again.
This past week it has also been confirmed we will compete in the brand-new United Rugby Championship; that Premier Sports will carry all our URC games for the next four seasons, with the league and broadcaster making a commitment to enhance their coverage going forward; and that we have qualified for the 2021/22 Heineken Champions Cup.
It has been a good week and along with the strong finish to the season with wins over Edinburgh – to bring the 1872 Cup home for the first time in four years – Dragons, and the 2021 Guinness PRO14 champions, Leinster, there is a lot to get excited about as we look ahead to the new campaign.
Only one thing missing from these three beauties…

Memberships
We are offering our traditional Season Ticket Membership packages with a view to starting the new campaign with crowds back at Scotstoun. Scottish Rugby’s 16,500 capacity British & Irish Lions game on Saturday at BT Murrayfield and the government’s plan to lift all outstanding restrictions by 8 August are positive sign for crowds.
I can assure all our customers that you can buy with confidence though as we have a robust refund system in place in the event that we are unable to host fans at the stadium, or that we must reduce capacity.
The renewal window for 2020/21 Season Ticket Members will close on Sunday 25 July, giving supporters plenty of time to renew memberships. You can find the full timeline for sales here.
Our Warrior Nation Membership, which offers supporters first access to non-renewed season tickets, a pre-sale window for individual match tickets, competitions, and events is open now for general sale and costs just £30.
To those of you that have renewed so far and those planning to, thank you for your ongoing investment in our club.
New league, new coaches
The United Rugby Championship is going to be a great competition with less international crossover, meaning our best players will be available to us more often, and the inclusion of the top four South African franchises will bring a new dynamic and pace to our league.
I’m delighted to see we’re returning to a single league table where every game will matter for reaching the knock-out stages, as well as the investment being made in broadcast and match days.
Also be sure to stay in touch over the summer for more information about our pre-season games, URC dates and kick-off times, and the Heineken Champions Cup draw – keep an eye on our social channels for information in the next few weeks.
We’re looking forward to welcoming our new Assistant Coaches Nigel Carolan, from Connacht, and Alasdair Dickinson, from Bristol Bears, and their families to Scotstoun.
Nigel’s reputation precedes him when you look at the attack that Connacht have boasted in recent seasons and his depth of knowledge for developing players in that area. Alasdair brings with him a deep understanding of the scrum having played professionally for 15 years – including earning 58 Scotland caps – and has since coached with Scotland Women, and the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy as well as Bristol Bears.
Values at our core
With new coaches and players coming onboard, we will be working hard to ensure that they are made to feel very welcome in Glasgow. Over the summer we will not just focus on the performance side of the game, but we will apply equal emphasis on the values and culture that we, Glasgow Warriors have at our core.
I would also like to wish Peter Murchie all the very best as he heads out on tour with Scotland – his first time as a coach – for their fixtures against England A, Georgia, and Romania.
On behalf of everyone at the club, we’d like to wish all the very best of luck to all our players competing with the Lions, Scotland and Scotland U20 throughout the summer.
Finally, to you, thank you for your continued support of our club, whilst you may not have been with us, we could not have got through this past year without you. I can’t wait for the 2020/21 season to get underway and to welcome you back to Scotstoun soon.
Until then, I hope you all have an enjoyable summer.
Yours faithfully
Al Kellock
