Squad update
With the start of new United Rugby Championship on the horizon, Glasgow Warriors have this week returned to Scotstoun to begin the second block of training ahead of the new campaign.
After new faces including Jack Dempsey, Lewis Bean, Ally Miller and Murray McCallum were integrated into the club in block one of pre-season, the second section sees a number of those selected for the 2021 Scotland summer tour return to Glasgow, including players such as Ross Thompson, Cole Forbes and Kiran McDonald.
The club is also able to provide an update on five players who are currently recovering from injury ahead of the new season.
Oli Kebble and Hamish Bain have each undergone surgery at BMI Ross Hall Hospital during the off-season, treating ankle and shoulder injuries respectively.
Matt Fagerson underwent successful surgery earlier this summer on an arm fracture sustained against Leinster in the final match of the 2020 Guinness Rainbow Cup, whilst Sam Johnson is also progressing through his recovery after sustaining a facial fracture in the same match.
On the international front, Enrique Pieretto, Domingo Miotti and Sebastian Cancelliere have all been selected in the Argentinian squad for the 2021 Rugby Championship. The trio have flown out to link up with Los Pumas ahead of the competition.
The club’s 2021 British and Irish Lions, Zander Fagerson and Ali Price, have returned from South Africa and will now embark on a period of time off ahead of the new campaign.
The majority of the remaining players will convene at Scotstoun next week as pre-season continues, as Danny Wilson’s squad continues to build towards the 2021/22 campaign.
