Scotstoun to host FOSROC Super6 Final
Scotstoun will play host to the inaugural FOSROC Super6, Scottish Rugby has announced.
The competition, which has seen 148 tries scored across 26 matches with an average of six tries per game in its first season, will host its showpiece event at the home of the Warriors on Saturday 28 March (kick-off 7.20pm) and will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland.
Just seven points currently separate the top three teams in the FOSROC Super6 – Watsonians are top with 32 points, just ahead of Heriot’s Rugby on 29.
Third-placed Southern Knights sit on 25, with Ayrshire Bulls two points behind them with a game in-hand. Stirling County and Boroughmuir Bears complete the league standings with 13 and 9 points respectively.
One round of competition remains in the regular season, in addition to Saturday’s postponed meeting between Ayrshire Bulls and Boroughmuir Bears.
League standings at the end of the regular tournament will dictate the hosts for the play-offs, with first and second place earning home advantage against the sides in fourth and third respectively. The teams who finish in fifth and sixth place at the end of the regular tournament will play the first of two legs alongside the semi-finals.
The competition’s finals weekend will feature a total of three matches; in addition to the final at Scotstoun, the third-place play-off and the second leg of the fifth/sixth place play-off will take place across the three days.
FOSROC Super6 Tournament Director, Stephen Gemmell, said: “It’s fantastic for the tournament that the final of the FOSROC Super6 can take place a Scotstoun Stadium.
“The playing surface and professional facilities that Scotstoun boasts will provide a great platform for the climax of the competition and provides a destination final to which all of the teams can aspire.
“It is also great news that the match will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland as this allows the best of part-time professional rugby in Scotland to be showcased to an audience across the country”.
