Return to training at Scotstoun confirmed
Glasgow Warriors will be moving home to continue their preparations for next month’s Guinness PRO14 clashes with Edinburgh, as the squad returns to Scotstoun for the latest phase in the club’s return to rugby.
It will be
the first chance for new Head Coach Danny Wilson to oversee training at the
home of the Warriors, with the first session scheduled for Monday 27 July.
The squad
has been participating in voluntary fitness sessions at BT Murrayfield since mid-June,
including outdoor weights sessions and socially-distanced cardio work.
The move
marks the latest step forward in preparations for the return of the Guinness
PRO14 next month, following its suspension in March due to COVID-19.
Wilson and
fellow new arrival Jonny Bell will have their first chance to run the rule over
the squad as they continue to build towards a return to competitive action,
whilst new additions to the playing group including Richie Gray and Enrique
Pieretto will be training with the squad for the first time.
“We’re
really looking forward to returning to Scotstoun,” Wilson told
glasgowwarriors.org.
“It’s our
home, and it’s the perfect place to continue our preparations to return to
rugby.
“I’d like to
thank everyone who has put in work behind the scenes to get us back to
Scotstoun.
“It’s been
great to get a ball back in the players hands and start rugby specific training
this week, and we can’t wait to continue that at Scotstoun.”
Glasgow Warriors return to training at Scotstoun on Monday 27 July. Please note that the campus remains closed to anyone without prior permission
