Nominate your 2022 SP Energy Networks Community Hero
Every club has that individual without whom nothing would be the same.
Now, in association with Official Community Partner SP Energy Networks, we want to celebrate those who make the sport we all love that much more special.
Whether that’s a coach that goes the extra mile for their team, the unsung volunteer making sure everything runs smoothly or someone that’s making a real difference within their local community, we’re looking for your nominations for the 2022 SP Energy Networks Community Hero award.
The winner will be revealed during the 2021/22 Glasgow Warriors Dinner, sponsored by The Malcolm Group, which will take place at Hilton Glasgow on Tuesday 24 May.
David Parr of Paisley RFC was the award’s inaugural winner in the 2020/21 season, having helped The Anchor outfit become a true hub at the heart of their community.
Who can enter?
Nominees must represent a rugby club the Glasgow Warriors catchment area to be eligible for the award; this can be as a coach, a player, a volunteer, a member or a specific team within the wider club.
The Glasgow Warriors catchment area includes all clubs and teams in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Ayrshire and Caledonia regions.
Anyone can nominate their chosen hero and will be asked to provide a short explanation on their reasons for nominating their chosen champion, highlighting the efforts and difference they have made within their local community. This can include anything from keeping in touch with those at risk of social isolation to running keep-fit classes for young children, or from establishing a new initiative to volunteering with a local organisation.
Their work doesn’t have to be confined to rugby, either – if they’ve made a difference, we want to hear about it.
How do I submit my nomination?
To nominate your Community Hero, fill out the form below by 11.59pm on Wednesday 20 April
Nominees will then be judged by a panel comprised of representatives from both Glasgow Warriors and SP Energy Networks before the winner is revealed.
Glasgow Warriors Managing Director Al Kellock is keenly looking forward to seeing the nominations come in, saying: “Inspiring our community is at the heart of our club; it’s one of our core values, and something that we as a club hold close in everything we do.
“The clubs within our catchment area do a power of work in ensuring that rugby is for everyone, and the individuals within those clubs are absolutely vital to creating an environment that not only inspires, but truly creates that community.
“We’re proud to once again join SP Energy Networks in recognising the contribution of these unsung heroes – each and every one of us can undoubtedly think of at least one individual without whom their rugby experience would not be the same, and I cannot wait to see the nominations come in.”
Frank Mitchell, CEO of SP Energy Networks, said: “ Our communities are at the heart of everything we do and as the official Community Partner of Glasgow Warriors, we’re proud to be able to recognise our community heroes through this award. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate those who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their community and we look forward to hearing more about the amazing work of this year’s nominees.”
