18 Nov 2019

A first European victory of the season, a fond farewell and Scotland Women return to Scotstoun - check out the latest Weekend Update.

Sharks downed at Scotstoun

Glasgow Warriors opened their Heineken Champions Cup campaign with a victory on Saturday afternoon, holding off the challenge of Sale Sharks to claim a 13-7 win at Scotstoun.

DTH van der Merwe’s try and eight points from Adam Hastings gave Dave Rennie’s men all four points, as they go in search of a second consecutive appearance in the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition.

Pump bows out

Saturday’s victory marked the end of an era for the club, as long-serving team manager John Manson waved goodbye to the Scotstoun crowd.

Warrior #59, the man affectionately referred to as Pump will take up a role with Old Glory DC ahead of the new Major League Rugby outfit’s debut in the competition.

Scotland Women open autumn campaign

Scotland Women opened their two-Test Autumn campaign with defeat on Sunday lunchtime, going down 17-3 to a physical Welsh side. Over 2,000 spectators packed into Scotstoun for the occasion, in what was Philip Doyle’s first home match in charge of the squad.

Warriors impress in FOSROC Super6

The new FOSROC Super6 continued at pace over the weekend, with a number of Warriors making their presence felt across the three matches on show.

The Price is right for Gerwyn

There was also success for a former Warrior away from the rugby pitch this weekend, as Welshman Gerwyn Price successfully defended his Grand Slam of Darts title.

Warrior Issue Two now on sale

The second issue of Warrior, the club’s official magazine is now on sale – packed full of exclusive content including a sit-down with DTH van der Merwe and a fan Q&A with Ali Price, you can get your copy at Scotstoun (or from Curtis Sport) for just £5.
