Glasgow Warriors are through to the final 16 of the Investec Champions Cup, with a 29-12 win over Toulon.

The game saw five tries from the Warriors players, with Kyle Rowe and Huw Jones getting two each and Josh McKay getting the other.

Max Williamson played the full 80 minutes of the game, his first full match in over a year.  He caught up with glasgowwarriors.org to share his thoughts on the game.

“It was tiring but really good.  I don’t think I’ve played over 30 (minutes) in about a year.  I was certainly feeling it in the second half, but it was worth it.

“It was a tough game with the weather conditions, but we are really happy with the win.  Obviously, disappointed with how the result went last week, but with our performance, we wanted to take that into this week.  I think for the most part, especially at the end, we did that.”

With the five tries and many more exciting moments throughout the game, Williamson struggled to pick a moment that was his highlight from the game.

“To be honest, I think a lot of the tries were pretty nice.  I can’t really think about what would be a highlight off the top of my head.  I would just stand up from a scrum and the backs would be over, so yeah, it was all good!”

Glasgow Warriors now have a few weeks to rest before being back in the URC, however, with the Six Nations around the corner, the squad will be out it’s Internationals.

“I think the whole squad is going to be really important in the next few weeks, especially with the internationals going away.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for us young guys to get more game and playing time and show what we can do.”

It was a sell out crowd at Scotstoun last night, and despite the cold and the rain, the Warrior Nation was as loud as ever.

“Hearing the support, it’s massive, absolutely massive.  Anytime you get tired, and you hear the home crowd, it just makes everything so much easier to do.

“It just makes it so much better when you score because you just know you’ve got the fans all around you.”
