The home side ran in five tries in front of the Warrior Nation, returning to winning ways on home soil.

“I’m pretty happy with tonight’s performance,” said Rennie.

“I thought we played the game in the right areas of the field, and our set piece was great. The scrum in particular was a real highlight – we need to be a bit more clinical off the back of it, but on balance it was a good night.”

The nature of Glasgow’s victory was a particular positive for the New Zealander, with the Warriors on top for large periods of the game.

He said: “We created a lot of opportunities tonight, which was pleasing in trying conditions.

“We do need to be more clinical, as there were a fair few opportunities out there that we didn’t take. Having said that, if we’d won by 40 or 50 points tonight we probably wouldn’t have learned as much.

“We had to work for the win tonight, and we’re delighted with a bonus point win.”

The victory was spearheaded by a man-of-the-match performance from Oli Kebble, with the prop capping a superb all-round display with his first points in a Glasgow jersey. The former Stormer’s performance, along with that of Adam Hastings at fly-half, was just one of many highlights for the Glasgow boss.

“I’ve not seen the big man score too many tries, so I imagine he’ll be delighted,” smiled Rennie.

“Our scrum was dominant tonight – he’s an absolute beast in that area, and it was great to have him back tonight.

“They flew up in midfield to try and shut Adam down tonight, so that forced him to probably run more than he’d planned. He’s pretty slippery though – he did really well to find a bit of space in behind them.

“He’s in a really good vein of form at the minute.”
