Two tries in the opening 4 minutes got the Warriors on their way to a 12-29 victory and Rennie was happy that his side were able to follow up on a positive performance against Saracens last week with a win on the road.

He said: “We got off to an excellent start, we knew they’d kick the ball to us a fair bit and we were clinical early, and it made a difference, it set the tone.

“I thought we also defended really well, when they breached us we scrambled well and managed to steal the ball at important times. It was a pretty clinical performance both sides of the ball.

“Last week I think we converted 0 out of 5 line breaks and yesterday we converted 4 out of 6 so we’re pleased to have made those shifts.”

Glasgow now sit second in Pool 3 and Rennie is under no illusions that the pressure is still on and the side will have to be at their best when they travel to France in December

Supporters are invited to travel on the team’s charter flight for their game against Lyon after their vocal support in the Welsh capital proved vital in Glasgow’s victory.

Rennie said: “We play Lyon back to back and we’re going to have to get points from both of those games to still be in the hunt. We’re happy to come to Cardiff and get five points.

“I think we played with good intensity again. The last few weeks have been a massive step up for us defensively and we want that to be the new normal. We know we’ve got a good skill set and we know we can hurt teams with ball in hand, but we want to be brutal without it.”

Adam Hastings was voted the Heinken Man of the Match and Rennie was pleased with his fly half’s display.

He said: “We’re really happy with Adam. He’s still a kid but he’s confident, he works hard and has a good skill set and he’s going to learn lots, especially in this competition.”
