Discipline needs to improve – Wilson

A quickfire double blow late on consigned the Warriors to a second home defeat in succession, despite trailing by a single score going into the final quarter.

“With 15 minutes to go we were two points down and had a bit of momentum behind us, but ultimately you can’t be stuck in your own 22,” Wilson told glasgowwarriors.org.

“Munster are too good a side to let you off the hook. We conceded too many penalties and they piggybacked off those.

“We’ve got a lot to learn around that – the breakdown, discipline and game management are the three big areas we need to improve upon ahead of next week.”

Despite the results not falling in Glasgow’s favour during the early part of the campaign, Wilson repeated the fact that the newer additions to the setup – such as Sean Kennedy and Hamish Bain – are showing the hunger necessary to continue his squad’s development.

“If you put the jersey on, you have to show that fight and spirit,” said Wilson.

“We won’t have players out there who don’t show that as the minimum. We had a lot of disruption in the early part of that game with Nick [Grigg] and Tommy [Seymour] going off injured, but I saw a lot of fight and desire to get ourselves back into the game.

“We’ve got 22 players unavailable to us at the moment – it’s a period where we’re blooding other players and those players showed that desire tonight.

“Discipline cost us tonight and we ended up with nothing, and that’s a tough one to swallow.”

A short turnaround means it’ll be an intense training week for the Warriors, as they look to bounce back with a trip to face Cardiff Blues at their temporary home of Rodney Parade in Newport.

“Cardiff will be another tough one for us,” said Wilson.

“They left a few players out for their trip to Leinster this weekend that I imagine will come back in to face us, but we’ll be ready.

“We’ll lick our wounds after tonight, bounce back and come out fighting on Sunday.”
