Fraser Brown to deliver Hampden match ball
Glasgow Warrior #281, Fraser Brown, will deliver the match ball at Sunday’s 1872 Cup fixture against Edinburgh Rugby at Hampden Park.
This is the former hooker’s first time back in the city since retiring from professional rugby.
On the day, he will be joined by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity patients. 13-year-old Ewan Hyslop, and 15-year-old Chloe Goodwin will also take the field. The Glasgow Children’s Hospital Chairty are the club’s official charity partner and will be recognised on Sunday with a special collection for former Scotland Women’s back-row player Siobhan Cattigan.
Glasgow Warriors and the Siobhan Cattigan Legacy of Love fund are encouraging every ticket holder to donate at least £1 at Sunday’s match.
Speaking about delivering the the match ball, Fraser said: “It will be the first time I’ve been back to a Glasgow game since I retired in the summer. It’s been great watching the club so far this season as a genuine supporter. It will be great being back in the stands though.
“Glasgow holds a very fond place in my heart. Anything I achieved in my career has been down to the platform provided by the players and staff at Scotstoun. It’s a privilege to be welcomed back for such a big game as this.
“I’ve made peace with not being out on the pitch anymore. I think saying I can sit back and enjoy the game would be a stretch of the truth. Yet I can’t wait to be able to enjoy the whole occasion as a supporter.”
