Good defence from the Warriors initially, but an offload from the floor by Chris Harris frees Josh Hodge, who in turn feeds Sam Graham. The flanker has enough power to ride the tackle of Fergus Watson, Hodge converting for a 7-0 lead.

It’s an experienced Newcastle team that welcomes the Warriors to Kingston Park, as the Red Bull overhaul continues on Tyneside.

Josh Hodge, Chris Harris, Werner Kok and Raffi Quirke all start in the back-line after arriving during the summer, whilst newly-appointed club captain Tom Christie leads the squad from the openside flank.

Former Warrior Murray McCallum is amongst the Newcastle replacements, as is Scotland U20 standout Jake Dalziel.

Head Coach Franco Smith has named a 31-strong squad for today’s pre-season clash, with a host of the club’s young talents set to feature prominently.

Recent academy graduates including Fergus Watson, Kerr Yule and Kerr Johnston – each of whom spent time in training camp with Scotland ahead of this summer’s Nations Championship fixtures – line up in the back line, whilst Macenzzie Duncan and Dylan Cockburn start in the pack.

Ottavio Tuipulotu gets his first run-out in Glasgow colours after a year out with a knee injury, whilst there’s also a first inclusion in a Glasgow squad for Bayley Kuenzle, who starts on the bench after his summer arrival from Western Force.

Ruaraidh Hart also features on the bench after returning to the club on a professional contract, with Gregor Johnston and Jamie McAughtrie included as part of one-month training contracts.
