Glasgow Warriors Not all is lost, Glasgow claim two points here in the south of France. And, they head back to BKT United Rugby Championship action, and their biggest home game to date, Hampden and the 1872 Cup.
Johnny Matthews powers over the line, here brings the score within three points.
Toulon defence holds firm, but another penalty won by Glasgow. One minute to play, Glasgow go for a tap.
Tom Jordan kicks to the corner, a try here would mean Glasgow could earn at least two losing bonus points, at best build another attack and win.
Marius Domon sent to the sin bin for a deliberate knock on.
Angud Fraser comes on for Henco Venter.
On the 22, an opportunity for Glasgow to try and cut this deficit.
Serin’s kick is successful. They move to an eight point lead.
Henco Venter not releasing on the ground, punishes Glasgow in front of their own posts.
It’s a game of ping pong almost right now, neither team getting much momentum, with the other forcing knock ons and penalties. Toulon’s turn to try to build something.
The ball goes loose at the set piece and Glasgow win the ball back.
Jack Mann isn’t able to protect the ball on the floor and is penalised. Serin kicks to touch. Toulon now on attack.
Replacement prop Beka Gigashvili unable to stay up in the scrum, handing Glasgow a penalty. Tom Jordan, now on for Duncan Weir, sends the ball to touch, winning Glasgow territory.
Jare Oguntibeju shows up again, completely stopping Toulon’s maul effort, almost single handedly.
A massive effort from Glasgow’s defence to stop a try there. Matt Fagerson finally, turning it over on the floor.
Facundo Isa, turnsover in the ruck.
Oguntibeju and George Horne making a nuisance as that line out comes back to ground, forcing a knock on and winning the set piece.
George Horne clears the ball handing Toulon the line out, but an awry set piece sees Glasgow win a free kick. Glasgow clear again and put the home side back in their own half.
A first Glasgow Warriors try for the second-row player Jare Oguntibeju! A powerful drive through Charles Ollivon.
Stafford McDowall sends through a grubber for Kyle Rowe to collect. The winger doesn’t reach it in time, but the defensive tackle from him and support-man Jack Mann, wins Glasgow the penalty on the five metre line.
At the end of his sin binning, Zander Fagerson replaces Sam Talakai.
Toulon playing with a lot of pace and power and that Brian Alainu’uese try was unstoppable.
Duncan Weir cuts the deficit with his first penalty attempt at goal.
George Horne, Rory Sutherland, and Johnny Matthews, are on for Ben Afshar, Jamie Bhatti, and Gregor Hiddleston.
Capitalising on the extra man, the outside centre, Leicester Fainga’anuku, for the host’s rips open the Glasgow defence and touches down for Toulon.
It’s converted, 20-12.
Just before half time, Scott Cummings replaced Alex Samuel. At the break Matt Fagerson replaced Rory Darge.
A massive break from Toulon’s winger Gabin Villiere, but he is sent to touch by Sione Tuipulotu.
Kyle Rowe collects the ball out of a loose line out, then clears it to end the half.
Sam Talakai sent to the sin bin for pulling a player out of the maul. Another Toulon line out to come.
In the maul, Glasgow penalised again. The pressure here is significant, Toulon move within five metres.
Glasgow penalised for being offside and Garbrisi sends the ball to touch.
Finally, Glasgow find some momentum, initially sparked into life with a break from Sione Tuipulotu, then moving the ball to the opposite touchline, a lovely one two from Henco Venter and Josh McKay, sees the full back in free to touch down.
Weir misses the conversion, bringing the match to within a point.
Marius Domon slots another three points.
Toulon capitalising in open play here, making things messy, harder for Glasgow to cope with, as they manage through these depleted numbers.
Ben Afshar tries to find a half gap, but leaves himself exposed and is sent to touch by three Toulon defenders.
Full back Marius Dumon is successful from the boot, and Toulon inch in front.
Toulon managing the depleted numbers why, rushing the ruck to force a penaly. It pays off, this time as Jack Mann gets stuck on the floor. Toulon look to kick for three, from halfway.
Just inside Toulon’s half a knock on goes in favour of Glasgow. Here’s another opportunity to attack.
Wow! That turned around quickly, a line out and maul from Glasgow leads to a penalty try as Lewis Ludlam illegally dismantles the maul a metre from the line.
It’s 7-7 and Glasgow now have a two man advantage!
Well, they well and truly made the most of that! The ball came out the scrum quickly before Tuipulotu, McKay, and Dobie linked up to make 80 metres. The kick and chase down tackle from Dobie was then perfectly executed to force the penalty.
Toulon’s reaction was an adverse one too, as Baptiste Serin is sent to the bin.
Stafford McDowall, making the most of his height to make an absolute nuisance of Facundo Isa’s attack. The centre, traps him and doesn’t let him go to ground. The ball’s turned over and Glasgow win the set piece.
This is within 12 metres of Glasgow’s line though, so a fair bit of pressure to tidy up first.
The scrum is upgraded to a penalty. Toulon kick down field and enter the 22.
It’s all a bit messy in the middle, neither team able to get a good grip on the ball. After a series of handling errors, the referee calls Toulon scrum.
Dany Priso, Toulon’s loosehead, gets within two metres of Glasgow’s line, before a collection of Warriors drive him out of the field. On the ground, Toulon are then penalised. Glasgow can then clear and win back 60 metres.
Hiddleston delivers the line out to Jack Mann, who takes the contact and pushes forward. Glasgow within three metres. Afshar now opts for the backs to try their luck at the line, but it’s turned over and Toulon clear.
Kyle Rowe puts through a lovely little chip to buy Glasgow Warriors 20 metres of territory. This brings them up to the Toulon five metre line, increasing the visitor’s threat.
Rowe then backs up the kick with the covering tackle and wins the Warriors a penalty, that Weir sends to the corner.
A dominant tackle and turnover from back row Henco Venter as Toulon attempt to build an attack from the line out.
The subsequent scrum, then becomes a penalty and Glasgow set off in attack.
Toulon have the first try of the game after relentless pressure on Glasgow.
Essai touches down and Serin adds the conversion to give them a 7 point lead.
Toulon have advantage as they attack hard in front of the posts
Glasgow will have the first line out in their own half, following Dobie, Cummings and McDowall tacking Toulon into touch
RC Toulon are kicking off as Glasgow will attack right to left for the first half!
