Weekend Update

Finishing with a flourish, drama in Paris and milestone performances - catch up with everything from the past weekend in the latest Weekend Update.

Bonus-point secured

Glasgow Warriors finished the 2020/21 Guinness PRO14 season in style on Saturday, running in six tries for a 46-25 victory over Benetton at Scotstoun.

The result sees Danny Wilson’s men secure fourth place in Conference A, as they await confirmation on the structure of next season’s EPCR competitions.

Parisian delight for Scotland

It was a night to remember in the French capital for Scotland on Friday night, as Gregor Townsend’s charges produced a performance for the ages to end a 22-year wait for victory in Paris.

The men in blue came from behind to earn a 27-23 victory over their hosts, as eight Warriors added their weight to a memorable display.

Wilson earns 50th cap

Friday’s victory was all the sweeter for one Warrior, as Ryan Wilson came onto the pitch to earn his 50th cap for Scotland.

A late replacement for the injured Matt Fagerson in the matchday 23, it had been a long wait for the Glasgow skipper – his 49th cap had come at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Warriors milestones

A couple of Warriors also marked milestones over the weekend; Robbie Fergusson bade farewell to the club ahead of linking up with the Great Britain 7s squad prior to this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, James Scott did likewise as his loan spell from Worcester Warriors ended, and TJ Ioane picked up his first Player of the Match award in an all-action display.

There was also cause to celebrate for Hamish Bain, who put pen to paper on a new contract in the week leading up to the Benetton clash.
