Stat attack | Adam Hastings returns
One of Scotland’s most electric fly-halves is returning to Scotstoun this summer – stats supremo @topofthemoongw takes a look at what you can expect from Adam Hastings when he returns to Glasgow…
Expect (even more) entertainment – Glasgow Warriors matches with Hastings starting in the number 10 shirt have the highest points per game scored (27.0) when compared to all other Glasgow stand offs who have made at least 10 starts for the club.
Hastings already holds a spot in a Glasgow Warriors top-five; only three players in club history have bettered Hastings’ season tally of 197 points in 2018/19 – Duncan Weir (one season); Tommy Hayes (three seasons); Dan Parks (five seasons). Hastings’ total is still the highest return for any Glasgow player in the last dozen campaigns.
The 2018/19 season saw Hastings hit top form in a Glasgow shirt, lighting up the league on the way to the 2019 Guinness PRO14 Final. In addition to being named the league’s Young Player of the Season, the fly-half played more minutes than any other Warrior except Rob Harley, carried more ball than any Warrior bar Matt Fagerson, and made more metres than any other Warrior apart from Niko Matawalu.
Hastings was out on his own as the Glasgow player to have beaten the most defenders in 2018/19, however, a title he retained in the 2019/20 campaign.
Indeed, he has three of the top 10 performances for Glasgow Warriors for defenders beaten since the data was routinely recorded in 2012/13 (11 v Dragons in 2018; 10 v Edinburgh in 2019; and nine v Sale in 2020).
