Fagerson voted Warrior of the Month for January
Zander Fagerson has claimed the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month award for January – the first time a prop has won the monthly award.
Less than 0.1% separated Fagerson and Huw Jones in the supporters’ poll, with Fagerson ultimately emerging victorious in the closing stages.
The tight-head’s first triumph in the monthly award comes off the back of three successive nominations, having enjoyed a rich vein of form since returning
to Scotstoun after the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Fagerson played the full 80 minutes against Exeter, his performance typifying Glasgow’s forward power against the English Premiership outfit in a dynamic
all-round display.
He was to the fore once again just a week later, playing his part in the 45-7 triumph away to Sale Sharks.
The 24-year-old was presented with his award at Scotstoun during the first fallow week of the 2020 Guinness Six Nations, having started both of Scotland’s
matches to date.
Speaking to glasgowwarriors.org, Fagerson thanked the fans for their support.

“I’m pretty humbled by it to be honest,” said the prop.
“I’m chuffed to bits, and thank you to everyone that voted for me. I’d like to accept the award on behalf of the forwards – the pack have done a lot of
work that perhaps goes unseen, and the boys have been working really hard.
“The squad is in a good place. We want to finish the year on a high. Everyone hit their straps in January, especially in the Sale game. Everything just
clicked and it was great to be a part of that. It wasn’t perfect though – we know we’ve still got some stuff to work on, but I’m just loving my rugby at the minute.
“Coming back in after the World Cup, I’ve had a smile on my face the whole time. Scotstoun is a special place to play rugby, and we want to kick on for
the rest of the season.”
