EPCR confirm 2022/23 Challenge Cup format

The format and key dates for the 2022/23 EPCR Challenge Cup have been confirmed today by tournament organisers, with Glasgow Warriors set to be a Tier One seed for the competition next season.

A total of 20 teams will compete for the title, comprised of eight teams from the United Rugby Championship, six from the French TOP14, five from the English Premiership, and South African outfit Toyota Cheetahs.

The clubs will be divided into two pools of 10, with the pool stages played out over four rounds of matches – two home and two away.

The live-streamed draw for the EPCR Challenge Cup pools is also scheduled to take place at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday 28 June, with the clubs separated into three tiers based on their rankings, and clubs from the same league will not play against one another during the pool stage.
