Cummings in line for Scotland debut
Scott Cummings is in line to make his first senior appearance for Scotland this weekend, after the second-rower was one of eight Glasgow Warriors named in Gregor Townsend’s matchday squad for this weekend’s opening Rugby World Cup warm-up match against France.
The former
Scotland Under-20 captain will become the 111th player in club
history to earn senior international honours should he come off the bench in
Nice on Saturday afternoon, having been rewarded for a strong run of form in Glasgow’s
journey to the Guinness PRO14 Final.
Three
Warriors will line up in Townsend’s starting fifteen, all in the back division
– Ali Price and Adam Hastings will combine at half-back, whilst Huw Jones will
be looking to continue his impressive strike rate in a Scotland jersey at
centre.
George
Turner makes a welcome return to rugby by joining Cummings on the bench, the
hooker having been stood down from playing duties for the closing stages of
last season having sustained consecutive concussions.
The Glasgow
contingent is rounded out by the Fagerson brothers and George Horne, as Scotland
go in search of a first away win against France since 1999.
