Al Kellock | Update to Supporters

Managing Director Al Kellock provides an update on the return of crowds to Scotstoun with Glasgow remaining in Level Three as we approach the end of the 2020/21 season and the Guinness Rainbow Cup.

Dear Warrior Nation,

I hope that you are well and continuing to stay healthy as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no doubt Glasgow remaining in Level Three while the rest of the country has moved to Level Two – though vitally important for our safety – has been disheartening for all of us.

As we approach the end of the Guinness Rainbow Cup and our final game of the 2020/21 season against Leinster at Scotstoun, it is important to update you all on our position for returning to crowds.

We have not confirmed anything before now due to the uncertainty around Glasgow remaining in Level Three and subsequently when it would move to Level Two.

With the city remaining in Level Three at least until Friday 4 June, we must unfortunately keep this game behind closed doors.

This being the case, it is important for us to have a way to involve our Members in the last game of the season and thank them for their support in what has been an extremely challenging year. Therefore, if you are a Season Ticket, Warrior Nation, Club KubeNet, or Business Club Member or an Official Club Partner, you are invited to attend an exclusive Clubhouse Event with our departing centurions Chris Fusaro and Tommy Seymour on Zoom next Friday night ahead of our Leinster match kicking-off. You will soon be receiving an email in your inbox on how to sign up for this event.

Looking ahead to the new season, we expect to hear more in the coming weeks on the structure of the Guinness PRO14 going forward. In line with this, we will shortly be communicating with you about our membership packages for 2021/22.

We are working on the basis that we will have clear-cut competition structures for the full season, and we remain hopeful that by the start of the new season we will be able to invite full crowds back to Scotstoun – subject to government guidance.

It is worth noting that the British & Irish Lions game at BT Murrayfield with 16,500 supporters is a sure sign we are moving in the right direction and its successful delivery will help to inform the next steps we can take for returning crowds to stadia.

Though we will not be able to come together at Scotstoun for the Leinster match I remain hopeful that we will be together again soon and able to bring back Scotstoun’s special atmosphere that we all crave.
