For Glasgow Warriors, the qualification picture is now clear as they target a place in the last-16 of the Heineken Champions Cup. With last season’s runners-up, La Rochelle, coming to Scotstoun this weekend, Danny Wilson and his squad know that their destiny remains in their own hands.
As the build-up continues for what’s shaping up to be a massive European night in front of the Warrior Nation, here’s how it all stands ahead of the final round of pool matches.

Qualification
Glasgow Warriors currently sit eighth in Pool A after three rounds of pool action, with the top eight in each pool qualifying for the round-of-16.
Round-of-16 ties will be played across two legs; the team ranked first in Pool A will play the eighth-ranked team from Pool B, and vice versa. The highest-ranked team will be at home in the second leg of the tie.
The teams that finish in ninth, tenth and eleventh drop into the Challenge Cup last-16.
If Glasgow Warriors win with a bonus-point
A bonus-point win will all but secure Glasgow Warriors a place in the round-of-16, barring Montpellier winning by 63 points more than Wilson’s men.
Montpellier host Exeter on Sunday evening at the GGL Stadium.
If Glasgow Warriors win, but without a bonus-point
Glasgow Warriors will progress to the last-16 with a win, provided that Montpellier do not earn a bonus-point win over Exeter.
If Glasgow Warriors draw, with a four-try bonus-point
A high-scoring draw would seal passage to the last-16 for the Warriors if the following results also occur:
- Montpellier earn no more than three points from their game against Exeter.
Or
- Either Sale Sharks or Clermont Auvergne lose without earning a losing bonus-point.
Clermont Auvergne travel to Ulster on Saturday evening, whilst Sale Sharks host the Ospreys at Sunday lunchtime.
If Glasgow Warriors draw with no bonus-point
A draw could see the Warriors progress to the last-16, as long as:
- Montpellier earn no more than two points from their clash with Exeter
- Northampton Saints do not win with a four-try bonus-point by a margin of 12 points or more.
- Bath do not win with a four-try bonus-point by a margin of 15 points or more.
Bath host Leinster at The Rec on Saturday afternoon, whilst Northampton Saints travel to La Defense Arena to play Racing 92 on Sunday afternoon
If Glasgow Warriors lose, but earn a losing bonus-point
Should La Rochelle get the better of the Warriors at Scotstoun on Saturday night by seven points or fewer, a place in the last-16 will still be Glasgow’s as long as all three of the following occur:
- Montpellier earn no more than one point from the match against Exeter.
- Northampton Saints do not win by a margin of six points or more.
- Bath do not win by a margin of nine points or more.
If Glasgow Warriors lose without a losing bonus-point
If La Rochelle deny the Warriors a losing bonus-point, Glasgow Warriors would only qualify for the round-of-16 if both:
- Montpellier lose without a bonus-point.
- Northampton Saints, Bath and Ospreys all also lose in their respective fixtures
