Eight Warriors prospects selected for Scotland U20

Eight Glasgow Warriors academy prospects have been named in the Scotland U20 squad that will take on Australia in their second match of the World Rugby U20 Championship this Friday, as Kenny Murray’s men look to bounce back from opening day defeat at the hands of England.

Johnny Ventisei will once again lead the team, the centre named as co-captain alongside Edinburgh flanker Freddy Douglas.

Kerr Yule partners Ventisei in the midfield, having played a key role in Scotland’s third and final try in Sunday’s clash with England in Verona.

Fergus Watson continues on the wing after an energetic showing in game one, with Matthew Urwin steering the ship from fly-half as he continues in the number 10 jersey.

Up front, Joe Roberts starts at hooker for the second successive match, joining Ollie McKenna in the front row for Friday afternoon’s encounter.

Dan Halkon continues in the second-row, having featured in seven successive outings for Murray’s outfit and playing the full 80 minutes in six of them.

Seb Stephen rounds out the Glasgow contingent after being named amongst the replacements, the hooker awaiting his opportunity to make an impact from the bench this Friday.

Scotland U20 take on Australia in Viadana this Friday afternoon, with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm UK time. You can watch the match live on RugbyPass TV.
