2023/24 BKT URC schedule confirmed

Glasgow Warriors will open the 2023/24 BKT United Rugby Championship season at home to Leinster, after confirmation of the calendar by competition organisers ahead of the new campaign.

The Warriors will once again play home and away against their fellow Scottish-Italian Shield rivals, as well as home or away against the other 12 teams in the competition with the biannual fixture sequencing for home and away matches starting afresh for 2023/24.

Franco Smith’s men will welcome the Leinstermen on Sunday 22 October (kick-off 4pm), with Round One fixtures scheduled to avoid broadcasting conflicts with the Rugby World Cup semi-finals taking place the same weekend.

Galway will be the destination for the club’s first away game of the new campaign as the Warriors take on Connacht at The Sportsground in Round Two, before welcoming the DHL Stormers to Scotstoun on Friday 3 November (kick-off 7.35pm).

An away trip to the Ospreys in Round Four is followed by a home double header in November, as Franco Smith’s squad welcomes Scottish-Italian Shield rivals Benetton (Saturday 18 November, kick-off 7.35pm) and familiar foes Ulster (Saturday 25 November, kick-off 7.35pm) to Scotstoun in successive weeks.

December opens with a visit to Musgrave Park and a clash with Munster on Friday 1 December, before the BKT URC takes a back seat for back-to-back Champions Cup fixtures, details of which will be confirmed in due course by EPCR.

The festive double-header with Edinburgh sees Glasgow kick-off their 1872 Cup defence at home on Friday 22 December (kick-off 7.35pm), before travelling to BT Murrayfield on Saturday 30 December (kick-off 3pm) to round out 2023.

January provides the Warriors with a brief break from domestic action, with only two further Champions Cup fixtures scheduled for the opening month of 2024.

Instead, it will be the Dragons who will be the first BKT URC visitors to Scotstoun in 2024, as the Welsh outfit come to town on Saturday 17 February (kick-off 7.35pm).

A Round 11 visit to Treviso for the return clash with Benetton precedes another Welsh visitor to the home of the Warriors, with Smith’s squad taking on Cardiff on Friday 22 March (kick-off 7.35pm).

The Scarlets are the hosts at Parc y Scarlets a week later, before the Cell C Sharks make their first trip to Scotstoun since 2021 on Friday 19 April (kick-off 7.35pm).

Glasgow will then head to Parma to take on Zebre Parma in Round 15, before travelling to South Africa to take on the Vodacom Bulls and Emirates Lions in back-to-back weekends.

The regular season concludes with the visit of Zebre Parma to Scotstoun in Round 18, with the Warriors hosting their Italian counterparts on Friday 31 May (kick-off 7.35pm).

All nine regular-season BKT URC home matches, as well as the club’s two home Champions Cup pool fixtures and The Famous Grouse Pre-Season Friendly match against Zebre Parma at Scotstoun, are included in a 2023/24 Season Ticket – click here for more information.
