Wilson and Gibbins to continue as co-captains
Ryan Wilson and Callum Gibbins will once again co-captain Glasgow Warriors for the 2019/20 season.
Having captained Scotland for the first time in the national team’s final Summer Test match against Georgia, club centurion Wilson will continue to lead the side for the third successive season upon his return from the Rugby World Cup.
The back-rower who is entering his ninth season with the Warriors was awarded the Al Kellock Leadership Award at last year’s end of season Awards Dinner by the coaching group and will look to continue to build on the club’s recent success.
Gibbins, who is entering his third season for the club, also a previous recipient of the Al Kellock Leadership Award, resumes his leadership duties after a strong season in which the fan favourite open-side flanker made 19 appearances for the club scoring four tries.
He made an immediate impact at Scotstoun, after arriving from the Hurricanes 24 months ago and captained the Warriors on several occasions in Wilson’s absence during the 17/18 campaign.

Speaking to glasgowwarriors.org, Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Dave Rennie, said: “They worked excellently together last season. Ryan is a proud Scotsman and he brings the passion you see every time he pulls on our jersey. His ability to relate to everyone is a real strength, and he drives everyone forward on the pitch.
“Callum is a very impressive man. He’s got a massive work ethic and is an excellent role model. The two of them are really good mates and bring out the best in each other, and they’ve learnt a lot from each other too.
“Having the two of them as co-captains allows them to share the responsibility and it worked very well for us last season.”
