Supporter Update | Nathan Bombrys
Glasgow Warriors Managing Director Nathan Bombrys speaks to club supporters and provides an update on the current COVID-19 situation.
Dear Warrior Nation,
I hope you and your family are safe
and well. Whilst we are all missing cheering on our players at Scotstoun, their
continued wellbeing, as well as our staff and supporters, remains the upmost
thought in our minds during this time.
On behalf of everyone at Glasgow
Warriors, thank you to the front-line workers for your tremendous efforts across
the country. We have been clapping for you each Thursday, and our gratitude stretches
far beyond that.
It has been incredibly pleasing to see
the Glasgow Warriors family come together over recent weeks to support each
other and the wider community. Together we have helped to raise £20,000 for Well-Fed Scotland, allowing them to continue to provide hot
meals and assistance to those most in-need in Glasgow at this time. Our
sponsors and partners have also been playing their part as front-line workers and supporting the NHS
across the UK. I’ve previously stated that I believe our supporters are the
best in Europe, and your efforts across Scotland and beyond continue to make me
proud to be a part of this club.
Many of you will have seen the recent
announcement regarding the furloughing of Scottish Rugby staff. At Glasgow
Warriors, this included our playing group and the majority of our backroom
team. We are still in regular contact with each player, making sure they remain
physically and mentally healthy. They have been given personalised fitness programmes
to keep them in the best shape possible, and to continue to work hard from home
in preparation for rugby’s return.
Like you, everyone at the club can’t wait
to get back to Scotstoun and for the action on the pitch to recommence.
However, public health remains paramount, and we must stay patient while we
await clarity on the lifting of lockdown restrictions. Rest assured that we
continue to monitor the situation closely, alongside our counterparts at
Scottish Rugby. Our team doctor Dr Jonathan Hanson and I sit on the Scottish Rugby Threat Management Group, and
are in regular discussions with the Guinness PRO14.
should still retain their match ticket and Season Ticket Membership cards for
the remainder of the 2019/20 season, as they remain valid for any rearranged
games. We are also exploring options with the Scottish Rugby Ticket Centre as
well as Guinness PRO14 to assess what can be made available to you if the
2019/20 season were to be cancelled. The options could include a credit scheme that would
allow you to carry any unused tickets forward to next season. We are also
grateful for those of you who have expressed an interest in leaving your money
with the club for future support, and that is another option we are exploring. Once we receive
clarification regarding the rest of the 2019/20 season, we will communicate the
options available to you as soon as possible.
In terms of the 2020/21 season, we are
currently planning to freeze match ticket and Season Ticket Membership prices.
For those members who pay for their season tickets by direct debit, the
Scottish Rugby Ticket Centre are exploring options to increase the number of
direct debit instalments to help ease any financial pressures on you and your
fellow supporters. We are planning for the 2020/21 Season Ticket Membership to
include 11 Guinness PRO14 league games and three Heineken Champions Cup pool
fixtures. We do not have a definite timescale for when Season Ticket
Memberships will go on sale, but hope to do so early this summer.
Off the pitch, preparations continue
for when rugby has the green light to return. Dave Rennie remains hard at work
as he comes to the end of his tenure at Scotstoun. Meanwhile, incoming head
coach Danny Wilson is continuing to lay the foundations for next season. Having
worked with Danny for some time now on the planning for next season, I’m
excited for what he has in store for his first campaign with the club. I hope
you will join me in giving him a warm welcome to Scotstoun when he takes
I hope everyone is enjoying the new
content available on the club’s official channels. We continue to look for new
and innovative ways to entertain you during the ongoing Guinness PRO14
suspension. Warriors Reloaded broadcasts have enjoyed superb viewing
figures, as we re-live some of the club’s most memorable victories. The Rewind
Series has also allowed us to dig into our archive, for classic moments against
our Guinness PRO14 rivals. We have also been enjoying trips down Memory Lane,
so, keep an eye out for more familiar faces in the coming weeks. We welcome any
content feedback or suggestions to our email account at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you, once again, for your
continued support of Glasgow Warriors. We look forward to welcoming you back to
Scotstoun once all of this is over, but until then stay home, stay safe and
My very best wishes,
