SP Energy Networks Community Hero Spotlight | Emma Forbes-Hayes
Glasgow Warriors is delighted to announce Emma Forbes-Hayes as this month's SP Energy Networks Community Spotlight.
Emma was nominated by previous winner Tyler Stevenson for the work she does at McLaren RFC.
She has been involved in rugby for around 30 years as both a player and a coach, highlighting the lifelong role a sport can play in a persons life.
Speaking to glasgowwarriors.org, Emma said, “I’ve been involved with rugby for 30 years, initially as a player and now as a coach at McLaren. I coach the P1-3 minis, youth and high school girls.
“I’m the fixture secretary, on the club committee and I’m always striving to find opportunities to move the club forward.
“I’m part of a great club with amazing volunteers who support these aims and together we are making McLaren Rugby an amazing wee club”
“I just want to give kids the same opportunities I had to play rugby, make friends, watch and meet professional players, go on tour, have fun and to provide an environment that helps them feel good about themselves and looks after the kids health and well being.”
As part of the recognition, Emma will be presenting the match ball on Saturday for the Ospreys game.
“Rugby has given me some amazing friendships, experiences and opportunities. Some ‘is this really happening moments’, which I’m sure Saturday will be.”
Emma is sure to emphasise that although she is the recipient of the award this month, there are a whole group alongside her at McLaren who help make it all possible.
“It’s lovely to be recognised for an award but it is not just all about me, but the coaches, committee, volunteers parent and players I volunteer alongside who makes it all happen.”
Tyler Stevenson, a previous recpient of the award, nominated Emma. He said, “I am absolutely delighted that Emma Forbes-Hayes from McLaren RFC has been recognised for this!”
“Emma has been a stalwart member of the McLaren and wider CaliMidlands Region community for a decade; providing continual support for multiple boys and girls teams. She is very well deserving of the recognition and will be an excellent ambassador for the SP Energy Network Community Hero Spotlight.”
