Jones claims Warrior of the Month for December
Glasgow Warriors centre Huw Jones has claimed the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month award for December, in one of the closest votes in recent years.
The
midfielder finished with 38.9% of the supporters’ vote, edging out Zander
Fagerson by just 0.7% in the final standings.
It is the
first time that Jones has taken home the trophy, with the Warrior Nation
recognising his impact over the month of December.
Having set
up a crucial score for Ali Price in the opening match of this season’s 1872 Cup
against Edinburgh at Scotstoun, the centre then got on the scoresheet himself
at BT Murrayfield by crossing for the Warriors’ opening try of the game.
The centre was
presented with his award at Scotstoun ahead of Saturday’s Heineken Champions
Cup clash with Exeter Chiefs, as Glasgow continue their pursuit of a place in
the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition.
“Thanks to everyone that voted for me – I really appreciate the support we get from the fans, they’re great to play in front of every week,”
said Jones.
“I’d also like to thank the coaches for the nomination – it was a really tight race against some great nominees, so thanks to the fans for
their support.”
