Glasgow Warriors lift U16 1872 Cup
Back-to-back victories in a double-header at Scotstoun saw Glasgow Warriors lift the U16 1872 Cup this afternoon, earning an 85-65 aggregate victory over their Edinburgh counterparts.
Played in front of a vociferous crowd at the home of the Warriors, it was the hosts’ attack that ensured that the trophy would be remaining in Glasgow following the full-time whistle.
An end-to-end encounter in the opening match of the day saw the Warriors claim a 55-40 win over their visitors, entertaining all in attendance at Scotstoun.
Bruce Abbot and Bobby Shearer each crossed for a brace, in a match that saw 19 tries shared between the two squads.
The Warriors held on in a comparatively more conservative fixture in the second match of the double-header, taking a 30-25 win over Edinburgh to secure the silverware for the hosts.
Daniel Casserley’s score proved decisive for the hosts, with both squads taking to the field for the post-match trophy presentation.
