FT: Glasgow Warriors 29-5 Toulon

Glasgow try

Line out > Maul > eight phases > wide pass from Tuipulotu > TRY TIME!

Kyle Rowe claims the spoils

Glasgow penalty

A final flurry from the Warriors. And the East Stand are in full voice once again.

A lovely break from Kyle Steyn, gathers the hosts 30 metres.

Euan Ferrie

The back row is denied again. A break away out wide and run in from 20 metres sees Ferrie score another try in as many weeks, but this one is also chalked off for going forward on the off load.

Ben Afshar (on) George Horne (off)

Alex Samuel (on) Scott Cummings (off)

Try disallowed

The referee deems crossing and it’s a goal line drop out for the hosts.

Toulon try

Cornell du Preez crosses the whitewash from the maul for a second Toulon try. The referee does go up the stairs though.

That’s his last move of the game. Stafford McDowall comes on for the outside centre.

Huw Jones, please stand up

This man is on fire tonight. Another stolen line out and then a line break for the ages. Huw Jones gathers the ball out wide, a little dummy, and he’s home free. The pace is perfect, the turn of pace beautiful. What a second try for Huw Jones and the bonus point!

Sold out

Warrior Nation, we can confirm that Scotstoun Stadium is sold out tonight. Thank you to every one of you braving the cold coming out to support your team in this decisive European fixture, and to all of you at home and around the world supporting us!

Glasgow try

Finally, in the eighth phase, the man who started the move plays a miss pass out wide to the supporting full back, Josh McKay who is in clear for the try line. After being denied a score early on he claims his try for tonight!

Glasgow penalty

Glasgow have  now moved right up to the try line and are battering the Toulon defence under the sticks. No try yet.

Glasgow turnover

Johnny Matthews however steals the ball in the line out and injects some pace in the middle. He releases the ball to the backs who advance.

Toulon penalty

Both teams stuck in a midfield battle, neither making a great deal of yards. This ends with a Glasgow attack resulting in the hosts being penalised in the ruck, allowing the visitors to clear their lines.

Oli Kebble (on) Jamie Bhatti (off)

Johnny Matthews (on) George Turner (off)

Zander Fagerson (on) Lucio Sordoni (off)

Toulon try

Toulon manage to keep the pressure on in Glasgow’s 22. A handful of phases on from the kick, and winger Gaël Drean collects a cross field kick and scores in front of the north stand.

The conversion is missed and the score moves to 12-5.

Territory game

Toulon are opting to pin Glasgow back against their own line, opting for a deep kicking game. On this occasion they find clear space and Kyle Steyn has a long way to go to tidy things up.

Glasgow ball

Solid defence from the Warriors, before Rowe and McKay counter from the kick ahead.

Glasgow ball

Horne clears from the restart, and Toulon have the lineout on halfway.

We are underway once more at Scotstoun!

More to come in the second 40!

Glasgow ball

Advantage in hand here as Toulon are penalised for a high tackle.

None coming, penalty to the Warriors.

Scrum Glasgow

The lineout throw is just too long for the hosts, and Toulon come away with it.

However, Dempsey holds up his man in midfield and it’s a scrum to the Warriors.

Penalty Glasgow

This time the turnover stands!

Lucio Sordoni wins the penalty at the ruck, and Jordan will kick to touch – Glasgow lineout on the Toulon 10m line.

Toulon somehow win it back again though, and play continues.

Toulon lineout

Glasgow almost away again straight from the restart, but the final pass to Rowe is just behind the winger and drifts into touch.

Just like that!

It’s Huw Jones who slices through, the centre cutting through from a delightfully subtle pass from Tuipulotu on the 22.

Horne adds the conversion for a 12-0 lead.

Scrum Glasgow

Play is stopped as the attack was getting a bit close for comfort to an injured Warrior in midfield – restart will be with a Glasgow scrum on the Toulon 22.

Penalty Glasgow

A ruck turnover from Fagerson and lip from Toulon gives Glasgow the platform on the 22, and Jones is looking interested…

Horne gives it to Miller and Tuipulotu follows suit.

Scrum Glasgow

Toulon turn over and go wide, but the pass to Viliere is a mile and a half forward and the scrum is awarded on the Glasgow 10m line.

Glasgow ball

Back comes McKay from the clearing kick, and Dempsey offloads to Ally Miller out wide.

Conversion successful

Horne leaves the conversion just wide, and it’s a 7-0 scoreline.

This one will count!

The Scotland flyer is unstoppable from there, going over in the corner for the game’s opening score!

Glasgow ball

Great carry from Steyn, and chance for Glasgow!

Toulon ball

The ball beats everyone to touch, Toulon lineout 10m from their own line.

Facundo Isa comes away from the base of the lineout, before Sinzelle clears.

And again!

This time it’s Max Williamson, and it’s spun wide to Tuipulotu who chips ahead for Steyn to chase!

Turnover from Matt Fagerson!

Horne clears upfield, and Toulon will come back from halfway.

Toulon lineout

Sinzelle finds touch as we restart, and Toulon have a lineout 10m out.

Penalty Toulon

Unlucky – Kyle Rowe thinks he’s pinched the ball, but the ref says it was illegally done at the ruck.

There’s a break here for attention to a Toulon injury.

Toulon ball

Now its the visitors on the atack, as Viliere takes play up to the Glasgow 22.

Good defence from Cummings and Jones, before Horne snares Lobzhanidze.

Penalty Toulon

Harsh, harsh call…

Josh McKay goes over for one of the tries of the season, racing clear from his own 10m line and over in the corner.

However, the referee and TMO spot a marginal block from Scott Cummings on halfway, and chalk the score off.

Toulon miss touch though, and Horne finds the lineout on halfway.

Glasgow ball

Glasgow whip it wide from the scrum, and McKay flies up to halfway.

Toulon return the kick ahead, and Glasgow counter.

Scrum Glasgow

Great work in defence from Matt Fagerson and Jordan, as the pair combine to hold up Smaili on the carry and win the turnover.

Scrum to the Warriors, 30m from their own line.

Missed penalty

Smaili leaves the kick short, and George Horne clears to touch on the Glasgow 10m line.

The pass is forward, but there was advantage being played and the visitors have a penalty on halfway.

Mathieu Smaili will have a shot at goal.

Tuipulotu grubbers in behind, but Sinzelle covers.

Kyle Rowe takes the clearing kick cleanly and Glasgow on halfway.

Penalty Glasgow

First blood to the Warriors at the scrum, as Jamie Bhatti wins the penalty.

Brilliant kick from Jordan, and Glasgow have a lineout on the Toulon 22.

Scrum Glasgow

Jeremy Sinzelle chips over the top, but there’s a knock on as the visitors try to regather and Glasgow have a scrum on their own 10m line.

Great work from Sione Tuipulotu in the tackle, and Huw Jones boots long – Toulon lineout on their own 10m line.

Toulon lineout

Toulon turn over and kick long through Gabin Viliere – the bounce favours the visitors, as it bounces into touch inside the Glasgow 22 for a 50-22.
