Zebre 10-42 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow’s 10-42 win combined with Scarlets’ victory over Munster sees the Warriors leapfrog the Irishmen at the top of the table going into a two week break in the Guinness PRO14.

It was the home side who took the lead, Italian international Carlo Canna kicking them ahead after Warriors infringed at the line out.

However, Glasgow soon took control of the game and Matt Fagerson barged over the line following consecutive scrum penalties earned by the Warriors pack.

Adam Hastings kicked the conversion on what would prove to be a faultless night from the tee from the fly-half.

Captain from the day Chris Fusaro soon doubled the Warriors’ lead, cleverly spotting the ball was out at a ruck to sneak round the side and steal it before dashing for the line.

Stafford McDowall scored his first try for the club shortly after, finishing off a pre-arranged set piece move, collecting a short ball of a line out and fending his way under the sticks.

Celebrating his 150th appearance for the club, Ruaridh Jackson marked the occasion by scoring his side’s bonus point try. The full-back collecting an Adam Hastings chip to pull Glasgow even further ahead.

Eventual man of the match Matt Fagerson scored his second try, stepping through the line and racing away to top off a near perfect first 40 for Glasgow.

Winning 3-35 at the break, Glasgow opened the scoring in the second half too. A rolling maul forcing its way over the line, Grant Stewart, Chris Fusaro and Tim Swinson all coming up with their hands on the ball.

Carlo Canna was shown a yellow shortly after for a deliberate knock-on but Glasgow couldn’t capitalise and a Zebre try was the only remaining points in the match.

Canna would later see red for a second yellow offence, kicking out at D’Arcy Rae but it was a job well done for Dave Rennie’s men who return to Scotstoun Conference A leaders.
