Match Preview | Zebre (A)
We are back in United Rugby Championship action this weekend as Glasgow Warriors are off to Italy to face Zebre.
The Italian outfit may be sitting down the bottom end of the table, but the side has constantly been improving and putting out big performances, both at home and on the road.
Zebre have lost their last two games in South Africa to the Sharks and Bulls however, they did beat both Ulster and Edinburgh at their home grounds in consecutive rounds.
Zebre have scored 32 tries this season, with Glasgow leading the URC charts with 63. Zebre’s Geronimo Prisciantelli however, has gained 911 metres and has scored 49 points this season.
Both teams are relatively close in the stats for tackle and line out success, but Glasgow have made more clean breaks than Zebre so far in the URC.
Glasgow have won four out if their five last URC matches, and have an equal three wins and three losses on the road this season. Glasgow have won their last nine fixtures against an Italian opponent since Benneton beat them in Treviso in September 2022.
Johnny Matthews sits top of the try scoring table for the URC with 8 tries to his name so far. Matthews has 11 tries under his belt against the Italian team.
This weekend could be a try fest from both teams as they both can pose a threat in their quick attack. Glasgow will be keen to put their best foot forward and secure a top spot to give them home advantage heading into play offs.
