Match Preview | 1872 Cup | Friday 23 December
It’s that time of year again when the two biggest teams in Scotland go head-to-head in the 1872 Cup for the 150th year.
Set to be a high intensity, high stakes game, both teams will be out looking for a win that will put them on the front foot for winning the 1872 Cup.
Glasgow Warriors have been back on the pitch at Scotstoun this week now that the pitch has thawed and been working hard off the back of last week’s win against Perpignan.
The Warriors have won their last three (away) games and are keen to bring that winning momentum into tomorrow nights match. Franco Smith’s squad is shaping up to be a strong fielding, with George Horne starting and being the top scorer between the two sides throughout this season.
In comparison, Edinburgh have two losses and a win from their last three games. The big news coming from Edinburgh, is the return of Van Der Mer following an injury that saw him miss last weeks game.
Despite Edinburgh being the current holders of the 1872 Cup, Glasgow will be fighting to win it back and take the prestigious and historic win this year. Tomorrow’s game is a sell out meaning supporters will be out in the masses to bring the noise to Scotstoun.
