Dobie ready to blend Dragons attack and Lions defence going forward
Glasgow Warriors won 31-21 against Emirates Lions in their home quarter-final of the EPCR Challenge Cup last night.
After finishing the first half 14-0, plenty more action followed in the second half as the club secured its place in a first ever European semi-final. Jamie Dobie caught up with glasgowwarriors.org to reflect on the win.
“We got the job done and at this stage of the season, winning is the most important thing. We are happy to come away with the win and progress to the semis. That was the aim of tonight.
“There was a lot of defence and a lot of grit and it would have been easy at points to give in. We were under a lot of pressure and we stuck to our defensive systems, especially in the first half. They were on our line for a while and we kept them out, which is pleasing.
“There is still plenty to work on, if we build on the attack from the Dragons game and the defence of that game and we will be in a good place going forwards.”
For Dobie, the Warrior Nation also played their part on the night.
He continued: “It is great to see so many fans. I know it was a short turnaround and it means a lot when everyone shows up.
“I hope they enjoyed the rugby and the game we put on and that they are proud of the effort we are putting in on the pitch.
“Hopefully we will see more back at the next few URC games, for Plaster It Purple next weekend, and hopefully down to the semi-final. It really encourages us and pushes us when we are heading into those final games.”
