Round 8 of the BKT United Rugby Championship will see Edinburgh visiting Scotstoun Stadium on Friday 22 December.

This is the first leg of the annual 1872 Cup derbies, with Glasgow Warriors the current holders of the inter-city trophy.

Gates open at 6pm for a 7.35pm kick-off.

SP Energy Networks Sensory Packs

Visitors with additional support needs, can request our SP Energy Sensory Packs. There are six packs, which include ear defenders and a selection of colourful toys to play with. These can be requested by emailing our Event Manager, robyn.struthers@glasgowwarriors.org

wheelchair and pram storage

Supporters who wish to store a wheelchair, pram or mobility scooter can bring it to the Stadium main reception where a member of the SP Energy Networks Scotstoun Squad will store it for them. Due to space there is a limit to the number of items that can be stored, therefore this will be operated on a first-come-first served basis.

Collections

We’re encouraging supporters to get into the festive spirit and wear your best Christmas Jumpers. We’re asking supporters to donate £1 to our Fighting for Our Families campaign for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity as part of this activation, so look out for the collection buckets and QR code on the big screen.

Outside the South East Gate we’ll also be collecting for Heart of Scotstoun once again. The community centre is always in need of toilet roll, shower gel, noodles, tuna, and tins of soup.

Doddie Aid

At half-time our friends at the My Name’5 Doddie charity will be hosting an extra special activity that’s not to be missed.

They’ll be promoting the annual Doddie Aid challenge that runs throughout January. This year sports presenter Eilidh Barbour captains Team Glasgow.

Back Green Band

The Warriors Pavilion hosts our house band, The Back Green Band. They’ll be helping you get into the festive spirit with a sprinkling of Christmas hits in amongst their usual setlist of pop sing-a-longs and classic rock hits.

Clubhouse

In the Clubhouse there are various activities to take part in. Our friends at the XVIth Warrior will be handing out selection boxes for any young supporters coming on the night.

The 1872 Cup will be displayed in the Clubhouse prior to the game for supporters to get their picture with.

Autograph Book

Our 28-page autograph book will be on sale around the stadium once again. It is £4 per book, with all profits going to our Fighting for Our Families campaign for Glasgow Children’s Hospital. Look out for SP Energy Networks Scotstoun Squad who will be selling them on the night. Please note the book can be purchased with contactless payment only.

There will also be a chance to collects autographs on with non-playing members of the squad out-and-about around the stadium.

SP Energy Networks Community Pitch

On the SP Energy Networks Pitch behind the West Stand there are four under-14 girls teams from clubs across our region. They are Annan, Alloa, Garioch, and Stewartry.

Food and Drinks

We have various independent Scottish food and drink suppliers, all with vegan and gluten free options or alternatives. Each vendor makes their food to order with the finest locally sourced produce, this may mean at times you have to wait a little longer for your food to be prepared.

From this match and over the winter we’re serving soup in the North Stand kiosks. Bovril is also back, and can be purchased across the stadium.

We are working with all our food and drinks vendors to better manage queueing times. The closure of the in-venue Clubhouse particularly has created pressure in the stadium bowl. The vendors are helping us with this adding additional personnel to their trucks where possible, and we are spending time on match days understanding where the main pinch points are to improve those.

With gates opening an hour and a half before kick-off and so that you can have the most enjoyable match day experience possible, we are encouraging supporters to leave plenty of time to arrive, collect food and drink, enjoy the entertainment on offer and find your seats.

Please note: At Glasgow Warriors events we are obliged to follow Glasgow City Council licensing regulations delivered at all Glasgow sports events. This means all drinks served at our kiosks and food vans are decanted into cups.
