Rowe extends Glasgow Warriors contract

Rowe extends Glasgow Warriors contract

Kyle Rowe has his sights set on achieving more success for both club and country, after the 27-year-old put pen to paper on a contract extension that will see him remain at Glasgow Warriors until at least the summer of 2027.

The winger – who is equally comfortable at full-back – has swiftly become an integral member of Franco Smith’s squad since arriving at Scotstoun in the summer of 2023, having made the switch north after a highly successful spell with London Irish.

Rowe has since scored 16 tries in 35 appearances for Glasgow Warriors, with 12 of those scores coming in his first season at the club – a feat that made him just the sixth player in club history to score 12 or more tries in a single season.

Included amongst his tally was a try on debut away to Connacht, as well as a hat-trick away to the Scarlets in a Player of the Match-winning display in March 2024.

A BKT URC title-winner in his first campaign, Rowe’s try-scoring form has continued into 2024/25, including a sublime solo effort away to the DHL Stormers in Stellenbosch.

The former Ayr RFC flyer has also shown his quality on the European stage, featuring in the top five for both clean breaks (12) and metres made (527) in the Investec Champions Cup in 2024/25.

Rowe was one of six nominees for the 2024/25 McCrea Financial Services Player of the Season award, finishing in third place behind eventual winner George Horne.

He has also impressed in the dark blue jersey of Scotland since making his debut away to Argentina in 2022, scoring three tries in 12 appearances to date.

“I’m buzzing to get it over the line,” Rowe told glasgowwarriors.org following the announcement.

“It was a really straightforward decision for me, especially after what happened with London Irish a couple of years ago. I love being part of this club and the group we have here, so it was an easy decision to make.

“The style we play here really suits my game, and I love pulling on the jersey. Everyone here always drives each other forward, and I know we’ll take that energy forward into the quarter-final this Friday night too.

“There’s a real buzz about the place ahead of this weekend, because these are the matches that you want to be involved in. Everyone’s pulling in the same direction and we want to go do something special as a club once more.”

Head Coach Smith added: “Kyle is someone who we believe has only scratched the surface of his potential, and his passion for representing both Glasgow Warriors and Scotland is clear to see whenever he takes to the field.

“His ability to cover both wing and full-back is a great asset to us as a squad, as is his innate try-scoring ability and willingness to work without the ball.

“We’re pleased to retain his services as we build towards next season and we look forward to continuing to work together.”
