Four Glasgow prospects selected for U20 World Trophy Final

Four Glasgow Warriors feature in the 23 men squad in a historic final for the Scotland U20s.

Kenny Murray has named his Scotland Men U20 team to face USA in the 2024 World Rugby U20 first versus second place final at Hive Stadium, Edinburgh (kick off 7.45pm – live on BBC ALBA).

Continuing his consistency at fullback, Warriors academy player Fergus Watson starts at 15 against the USA on Wednesday night.

Johnny Ventisei joins Watson in the backs starting in outside centre with an inside centre partnership with Findlay Thompson from Watsonians. Kerr Yule is on the bench to bring flare to the back row later in the match.

Only one Warrior features in the forwards: Ruaraidh Hart starts in the second row in Kenny Murray’s team. Hart comes in to replace Ryan Burke, fellow Glasgow Warrior, after Burke picked up an injury in the previous match against Japan U20. Hart is the only change in Murray’s starting XV.

Scotland have recorded three impressive wins to date, putting triple digits on Samoa and Hong Kong China before most recently beating Japan 46-10 to secure their place in the final. USA obtained top of the Pool B table after winning three from three against their opponents Netherlands, Uruguay and Kenya.

Scotland and USA will now battle it out for first place and promotion to next year’s World Rugby U20 Championship.
