We’ve been here before.
The hosts run out comfortable winners.
Nothing has gone to hand all evening for Glasgow, another pass misses its target and the Italians launch from inside their own 22.
Ben Afshar is the final player off the bench replacing George Horne.
Huw Jones powers over from short range off a quick tap penalty. George Horne converts.
Adam Hastings replaces Ollie Smith.
Really nicely worked try by the hosts finished off by Jacob Umaga. He converts his own score.
Warriors lose the ball in midfield after a big hit, it’s hacked forward by a Benetton boot and they win the race to secure their bonus point try. Conversion is good.
Murphy Walker, Jp Du Preez, Euan Ferrie and Kyle Rowe are all on.
Off are Fin Richardson, Max Williamson, Sione Vailanu and Kyle Steyn.
Glasgow have a spell of possession just outside the Benetton 22. Having not made any immediate progress Rory Darge eventually bursts through the line. He offloads to Stafford McDowall whose own offload to George Horne is lost forward. The closest Warriors have been.
It’s the Italians who have started the second 40 on the front foot. Warriors having to defend and losing the ball cheaply when they are in possession.
A big turnaround required. Back playing in Treviso.
Nathan McBeth is on for Jamie Bhatti
A much improved second 40 necessary.
Jamie Bhatti gives away a penalty at the scrum and receives a lecture from the referee. Benetton attempt a long penalty but it’s unsuccessful.
With all the momentum sapped from the long stoppage Glasgow’s maul is clumsy and they’re pinged for obstruction. Benetton clear but knock on at their line out.
The referee takes 5 minutes to check if the maul was brought down illegally before reverting back to his original call of penalty only.
Benetton think they’ve won a jackal penalty but their hands were on the grass first and the referees arm goes up the other way. Tom Jordan’s kick sends Glasgow 10m out, the maul is strong and Gregor Hiddleston think he’s touched down. Just short but Warriors were playing with advantage and will go again.
For the first time since the opening 5 minutes Glasgow have an attacking platform in the opposition half. They make good ground but the Italians eventually win a turnover penalty and Warriors’ are forced to defend again.
A real uphill challenge for Glasgow now. Benetton have a third score, collecting a kick over the top to touch down. No conversion.
Glasgow look to launch another attack but knock on on the ground to kill momentum and turn over possession. Nothing sticking for the Warriors so far.
Benetton win a scrum penalty and send it to the corner. The Italians obstruct whilst setting up a maul so it’s a Warriors penalty and another chance to get into opposition territory.
Glasgow look to run it out rather than kick as is the Franco Smith way. A pass drifts forward and it’ll be the home side’s scrum on the edge of the Warriors 22.
The home side continue to assert pressure on Glasgow, keeping them pinned inside their 22 with clever kicks in behind. They attack off a line out but knock on and Warriors will look for a solid scrum to clear their lines.
Max Williamson has passed his HIA and returns to the field.
The hosts double their lead, peeling off the back of a rolling maul and making their way over the line. Potential double movement is ignored by the referee who awards the try and another conversion from out wide sails over.
Gregor Hiddleston replaces Johnny Matthews who, after a discussion with the medical team, leaves the field injured.
Benetton fling it wide and Paolo Odogwu dives over spectacularly in the corner. The TMO checks for a foot in touch but the try is good and the conversion from out wide is good.
It’s been all Glasgow so far with the home side not touching the ball for the opening 3 minutes. Eventually the Italians rip the ball and hack down field. Stafford McDowall is able to clear but Benetton have an attacking line out inside the 22.
Early enforced change for the Warriors, Max Williamson is off for a HIA and replaced by JP Du Preez.
Tom Jordan gets the game underway. A huge 80 minutes ahead.
Both sides are on the field and kick off is just moments away. A glorious evening in Northern Italy here!
ICYMI our U23 side recorded an impressive victory over a combined Benetton and Zebre U23 side earlier this afternoon.
