Sharks scrum

Sharks have been camped in Glasgow’s 22 for an extended period here, but nothing has gathered momentum, with lots of stops and starts in these closing minutes.

McDowall claims a high ball in midfield, before Kebble charges into contact.

Cordero then gets up well to win back a high ball, and Glasgow have the scrum.

Knock-on from the Sharks in midfield, and the Warriors have the scrum on their own 10m line.

Textbook exit from the Warriors, as Tuipulotu carries and Horne clears to touch.

Brilliant work in the tackle from Venter and Thomas Gordon, and the ball is held up – scrum to the home side.

Not rolling away ten metres from Glasgow’s try line and they hand a threatening attacking opportunity to the visitors. They kick to the corner, and it’s a line out on the five metre.

The referee stops the match to look at possible foul play. There is a high hit on Sione Tuipulotu. After a look at the screens he is deems no foul play and we’re back underway. Sharks scrum.

Glasgow scrum

Tom Jordan, finds space to break the Sharks line. He makes it up to ten metres from the try line, but he is shut down.

The ball then goes loose, and Sharks have an opportunity to run free. Thankfully, a offload goes awry and the ball is knocked on.

Kebble: 100 up

And, Oli Kebble comes onto the field for his 100th appearance for Glasgow Warriors. He replaces Nathan McBeth.

Also replaced is Zander Fagerson for Lucio Sordoni, and Jack Dempsey for Thomas Gordon.


Sharks try

From the scrum, Sharks break in front of the north stand, some precise hands, the ball finally landing in the hands of prop Ntuthuko Mchunu who batters his way over the try line for Sharks second try.



Johnny Matthews is helped off the pitch having taking a knock to what looks like his ankle. He is replaced by Gregor Hiddleston.

Sharks snub that attack and win a scrum back on the halfway line.

Sharks win the ball after the scrum, but a quick line out sees Glasgow counter quickly.

Glasgow work through the phases, passing coast-to-coast and make progress from that scrum, up towards the Sharks five metre line.

They haven’t been able quite yet to puncture the opposition defence, but win a scrum, just shy of the whitewash.

The early exchanges don’t lead to anything on either side, and a knock on just inside the visitor’s half hands Glasgow possession.

As the crowd are treated to a phenomenal sunset behind the west stand, we’re back in action for another 40 minutes of rugby.

Off we go again, as the sun sets at Scotstoun – Steyn on the charge to collect Horne’s box kick brilliantly


Half time

A solid first half for the Warriors, as three tries – from George Horne, Max Williamson and Kyle Steyn – have the hosts 21-5 to the good at the break!



The skipper on Plaster It Purple night!

Strong work from the pack, and Horne’s speed of thought catches the Sharks off guard again – Tuipulotu’s charge is stopped short, but Horne’s flat ball finds Steyn on the rampage. Under the posts he goes, and Horne adds the extras for a 21-5 lead at the half.

Sharks stray offside and Jordan goes to the corner.

Steyn and Venter on the carry, them Matt Fagerson takes over – Glasgow up to 5m out!

Great work from Steyn off the restart, wrapping up his man and holding him up with assistance from Venter.

Scrum to the hosts on the Sharks 22 as we move into the final minute of the half.


Try Sharks

This time the pressure pays off, as Dan Jooste crashes over under pressure from the Fagerson brothers.

The conversion from Bosch drifts wide though, leaving the score at 14-5.

Another penalty to the Sharks, as Chamberlain’s offload goes to deck.

This time the Warriors sack the maul, but the Sharks reform and come again.

Big defence from McDowall and Tuipulotu to hold him their man!

We were playing advantage though, and Scott Cummings is sent to the sin bin.

Another penalty to the visitors, as Rowe defuses the cross-kick under advantage.

Sharks go to touch again.

Back come the Sharks again, as Williams gets his forwards moving.

There’s a knock on, but back we come for a penalty to the visitors.

Bosch goes to the corner.



Perfectly timed!

Max Williamson steams onto Dempsey’s offload and the big second-rower is not being stopped from there!

Horne adds the extra two for a 14-0 lead.

Advantage in hand, Jordan’s ball is behind Cordero but the winger dances away from two – Fagerson taking the direct route.

Out of nothing, almost a second score!

Turnover in midfield, Matthews and Tuipulotu shift the ball to McDowall, who kicks into space.

The Sharks fumble, and McDowall hacks ahead, forcing Chamberlain to carry over his own line.

This time the error comes from Glasgow, as Jordan puts too much on the kick and the ball goes dead – scrum to the Sharks on halfway.
