Tonight’s win is only Glasgow’s third at Thomond Park.
Also, this bonus-point win will go a long way in cementing Glasgow’s position in the top four too.
They keep hold of the ball and send it out as soon as the clock clicks onto 80.
As the clock approaches 80 minutes Glasgow work through the phases and look to hold onto the ball.
A scuffle between the wingers and scrum halves results in Glasgow conceding another penalty. The line out from Munster goes awry though and Matthews collects and breaks.
From the line out Calvin Nash creates a huge amount of space out wide and can dive in over the line for Munster’s fourth try.
Winger Calvin Nash, breaks the line winning Munster 30 metres, but Glasgow’s covering tackle does end the attacking threat but hands Munster a penalty.
Glasgow convert the scrum to a penalty and Miotti sends the ball out.
The pressure is off for a moment as Glasgow force a scrum. However, they’re still very close to their own line.
Ollie Smith is penalised playing the ball on the ground, allowing Munster to move even close to the Glasgow line with another line out penalty, this time on Glasgow’s five.
Munster earn another line out in Glasgow’s half after McDowall’s kick goes out in the full. They have a lot of momentum in this half and will look to run the ball.
From the penalty Munster went to touch. They then played the ball at close quarters resulting in back rower John Hodnett scoring at the base of the posts.
Munster had along advantage there as Glasgow are penalised for offside on their own line. The defence is good from the Warriors, and after multiple phases play had to be pulled back when Matt Fagerson intercepted out wide.
Glasgow win the scrum and are able to clear their lines, but the ball reaches touch, on their 22, giving Munster another chance to attack.
Sordoni, Gordon, and Darge work hard as Munster batter their lines. Their tackle efforts lay on the pressure for their opposition as they near the try line, finally Darge forces the turnover digging in at the breakdown.
Munster move back up to Glasgow’s 22 and opt for the maul once again.
This time the scrum is good, but Jamie Dobie and Sione Vailanu make sure they come away with points.
First Horne lines up Dobie for a short pop which the winger comes on to with pace, he can then recycle the ball quickly for Vailanu to pick up and dive over the line.
Try number five for Glasgow. Miotti converts.
Glasgow get good momentum behind the scrum, but as it starts to move sideways the referee resets.
George Horne quickly makes his presence known, coming on from Ali Price. Running up fast off the kick off to pressurise Munster. His efforts are not in vain as his opposite number drops the ball and gives the Warriors a scrum less than ten metres from Munster’s line.
But, then it’s a rapid turnaround again from the home side. Fekitoa breaking out wide and then the ball brought back in side allowing Craig Casey to dart over the line and score Munster’s second. The deficit has been cut significantly in the past four minutes.
Sione Vailanu is determined in the ruck and makes a nuisance of himself at the breakdown. He wins the turnover.
From the kick off Munster win a penalty and kick deep into Glasgow’s half, the home crowd now buoyed after our opponents score.
A well executed line out on the five metre into the rolling maul and Kevin Coombes puts Munster on the board for the first time in this match. The try is converted.
Centre Malakai Fekitoa and winger Shane Daly link up well and open up space out wide. But Glasgow’s covering tackle, committing two players to the ruck is proving effective in shutting down the attacking threat.
Glasgow have visited Munster’s 22 five times in the match, each time coming away with points, either one of the four tries or the drop goal. A good conversion on the road.
A quick penalty from replacement scrum-half Craig Casey, a matter of metres from the Glasgow line. The support wasn’t with him though and he’s turned over by some hard work from Ali Price and Fraser Brown in the tackle and ruck.
A clean strike from Miotti and the Warriors cross the 30 point mark as the ball sails through the uprights. 31-0
Glasgow’s turn to push now and the forwards set up a clean platform for a drop goal.
We’re back underway and Munster gather possession and begin to work through the phases, edging forward with every move.
A quite frankly superb half of rugby from the Warriors – four tries, a bonus-point in the bag, and a massive defensive effort to boot.
