FT: Glasgow Warriors 24-17 DHL Stormers

There is no doubt that conversion has gone over. Glasgow win 24-17. They beat the defending champions on their very first visit to Scotstoun.

Glasgow try

With one minute left on the clock, Sione Tuipulotu spots a lovely grubber to his oncoming winger. Cancelliere has loads of space here, the bounce is ideal and he runs in over the whitewash.

Glasgow penalty

Now it’s a penalty. Glasgow have a chance to go for the points, but their confident in the scrum and opt for another.

Glasgow free kick

The scrum becomes a free kick and the Warriors opt for another set piece. The East Stand are getting louder and louder – their boys just metres away from that line.

Glasgow make a nuisance of themselves at he line out and place a huge amout of pressure on the subsequent rucks.

The referee’s whistle goes and it’s in the home side’s favour. Glasgow scrum. The crowd goes wild.

Here goes Miotti and Cancelliere, with huge amounts of space on the wing. Cancelliere makes 30 metres, then Steyn carries on, but the covering tackle is made and he’s pulled down five metres from the line.

Ollie Smith collects a Stormers kick and runs about 30 metres. He fends his first defender he comes into contact with and then manages to get he ball away to Huw Jones, in support on a very straight line. He fends two defenders.

Plays stops for a moment as Fraser Brown receives medical attention. After some time with the physios he walks off and waves to the crowd.

Glasgow turnover the scrum, that came from the missed penalty kick. Much needed pressure relieved as Tom Jordan sends the ball well down the pitch and into touch.

Glasgow handed a couple of lifelines there, with Libbok missing his conversion and then a penalty from the boot. Still level, and the rain starts at Scotstoun.

What a break from Huw Jones there, he makes 40 metres but his defender is closing in. The pass finds Cancelliere in support but he’s driven into touch, just shy of the line.

That was almost sensational, but it’s not to be.

Glasgow undo a sustained Stormers attack with patient defence. The Stormers are not short of physicality here, so a massive effort was needed to turn that over.

The support are happy with that, as Sione Vailanu appears from the ruck. A fantastic team effort to stop that pressure.

The ball is worked wide from Jordan and Smith to Cancelliere, who links up beautifully with Huw Jones.

The centre flicks the ball back infield to Cancelliere, and the winger turns his man inside out before finishing!
