FT: Dragons RFC 28-42 Glasgow Warriors
A ninth game unbeaten, another bonus point win, it’s a good day in Wales as we now take a break to make way for the GUINESS Six Nations.
Dragons try
The final flurry of the game goes in Dragons’ favour. A close-quarters try for Chris Coleman.
BKT URC Player of the Match: Fraser Brown
An excellent performance from our Scotland international hooker, Fraser Brown, who dotted down twice in the first half.
Try disallowed
Vailanu’s position at the ruck just before the break is deemed offside and the try is scratched off.
Glasgow try
Tom Jordan sets up a Sione Vailanu break and then the offload to Jamie Dobie, sets the replacement scrum-half up for a lovely winding run, past three defenders and a cut inside to score next to the posts.
The referee goes to the TMO to confirm though.
Glasgow try
A perfect intercept from Sebastian Cancelliere and an 80 metre sprint to score under the posts. That is his ninth try of the season and Glasgow’s sixth of the game.
Tom Jordan converts and Glasgow cross forty, 42-21.
Dragons back on Glasgow’s five metre line.
Dragons penalty
Glasgow penalised for offside at the ruck again, as we enter the last ten minutes.
Jamie Dobie and Sione Vailanu
Jamie Dobie breaks the Dragons line and makes 25 metres, he then reaches Sione Vailanu who gives a long looping pass to Cancelliere on the wing. Cancelliere finds the gap and makes metres, but in amongst the action there is a knock on and the referee brings play back for a Dragons scrum.
Dragons attack
Glasgow stand firm again on another sustained Dragons attack. A Cancelliere tackle out wide forces a knock on and his opposite man into touch.
An opportunity to clear this multi-phase five-metre attack will be a welcome opportunity for Glasgow.
McKay and Cancelliere clear the Glasgow lines from that scrum.
And another penalty. Dragons were playing with pace and intensity in that period, making it difficult for Glasgow to defend. The penalty is five metres in front of the Glasgow posts, and they opt for the scrum.

Taine Basham powers over the line for Dragons’ third try, after a lapse of discipline from the Warriors.

After a period of back-and-forth on the halfway, line that saw Glasgow feeding multiple passes looking for a gap, the visitor’s are penalised at the ruck, giving Dragons a chance to press on into Glasgow’s half.

The reward comes for Glasgow though, off the line out Fraser Thomson drives the ball forward and then a lovely cut inside to run in from 15 metres is executed perfectly for Glasgow’s fifth try.
Duncan Weir converts and extends Glasgow’s lead, 35-14.
Dragons back up to 15 men.
Dragons turnover
Glasgow Warriors return to Dragons’ 22 for another line out. Sam Johnson and Sione Vailanu brought Glasgow within five metres of the whitewash with rapid support lines. Unfortunately, a Jamie Dobie knock on lost them advantage.

Simon Berghan works well on the ground, winning the visitor’s a penalty from the ruck.
Duncan Weir, launches the ball down the pitch and brings Glasgow onto Dragons’ 22.
The search for a fifth try continues.

Bean’s try is chalked off, with Lewis Bean offside in the ruck when he gathered the ball. Score remains 28-14, Glasgow.
Glasgow break
Glasgow are within ten metres of the line, with quality linking up from McDowall, Johnson, and a combined break from the half-backs, Price and Weir.
Weir takes it up to ten metres, then two phases later Lewis Bean bursts over the line with a reaching stretch, and Glasgow’s fifth score.
Second half underway
The teams are back on the pitch. Dragons’ JJ Hanrahan kicks proceedings back off.

It’s broken up, but Cancelliere somehow finds half a gap and is almost through.

Great work from JP du Preez – the big man identifies the opportunity and holds his man up in the tackle, winning the scrum for the Warriors on their own 10m line.

Almost for Glasgow!
Williams chips ahead but McKay reads it brilliantly and almost frees Forbes, before McDowall’s cross-kick sends Cancelliere off in pursuit.
Hewitt covers, before the Dragons are awarded a penalty for an offence at the ruck.

Not quite happening for either side right now, as Johnson’s pass can’t find Cancelliere.

This time it’s the Dragons who are left to rue the final pass, as Jared Rosser’s ball goes forward.
