‘We’ll come back stronger’ | Angus Fraser
A seven try game at Scotstoun put Glasgow’s defence to the test in the Famous Grouse pre-season friendly against Connacht.
Glasgow Warriors fell short of a win against fellow United Rugby Championship side Connacht. The Irish team scored four tries with Glasgow’s three resulting in the visitors taking the win by seven points.
Hooker Angus Fraser helped set up the Warriors for their third try, scored by second rower Gregor Brown. Fraser commented on how his side have points of improvement ahead of the URC Round 1 fixture against Ulster.
“We defended a lot. I think we didn’t get into our attacking shape enough during the game. We had a few too many knock-ons and that didn’t help us.”
Commenting on Gregor Brown’s try, Fraser said, “Really happy to see him get over the line. I thought he had a great impact coming onto the field.”
Despite the result, Glasgow learnt a lot of useful lessons from the game and Fraser stated how good it was to be back at Scotstoun.
“It was great to be out with all the fans here and we could hear them behind us. It was just shame we didn’t get the result in the end.
“There are improvements to make ahead of the URC starting, particularly in the scrums but we’ll take the positives from some of the set pieces today. We’ll come back stronger.”
